Triple exhaust ports and what they are.

Hey, great figures Spywell, although I think the HP/Lb value is a bit hard to read.
I'd suggest putting it into Lbs/HP because us humans like whole numbers better than decimals.
Also, I'd suggest you add a 200Lbs rider to the weight figure.

I also took the liberty of putting my own creation, a KTM 250SX powered blaster at the top of the list.
I don't know what the rwhp is, but various mags have dyno'd the 2003 from 49-58 hp. I have a lengthened Gnarly pipe on it so who knows?
Weight is a bit contentious also, currently under 300 Lbs with no muffler, light, oil tank and chain guard. I put it down as 330 Lbs to include those items.

As well, I stuck a 1966 Hemi Charger at the end for comparison.

Here is how it works out:
---- Machine --------------- Horsepower - Weight - HP/Lb - Lbs/HP - Lbs/hp with 200Lbs rider

0 KTM 250sx Blaster ----------- 45?rwhp / 330Lbs = 0.1364 = 7.33 = 11.8
1 Suzuki Quadzilla LT500 ------ 51srwhp / 390lbs = 0.1308 = 7.65 = 11.6
2 Cannondale Cannibal --------- 38srwhp / 375lbs = 0.1013 = 9.87 = 15.1
3 Yamaha Banshee -------------- 37srwhp / 386lbs = 0.0959 = 10.43 = 15.8
4 Suzuki QuadRacer 250R ------- 31srwhp / 327lbs = 0.0948 = 10.55 = 17.0
5 Kawasaki Tecate 4 ----------- 33srwhp / 339lbs = 0.0944 = 10.59 = 16.3
6 Honda 250R ------------------ 31srwhp / 329lbs = 0.0942 = 10.66 = 17.1
7 Bombardier DS650 ------------ 42srwhp / 465lbs = 0.0903 = 11.04 = 15.8
8 Yamaha Raptor 660R ---------- 35srwhp / 399lbs = 0.0877 = 11.40 = 17.1
9 Suzuki Z400 / Kawasaki X400 - 32srwhp / 370lbs = 0.0865 = 11.56 = 17.8
10 Honda 400EX ---------------- 29srwhp / 374lbs = 0.0775 = 12.90 = 19.8
11 Polaris Sport 400 ---------- 31srwhp / 481lbs = 0.0644 = 15.52 = 22.0
12 Yamaha Blaster ------------- 19srwhp / 320lbs = 0.0594 = 16.83 = 27.4
13 Yamaha Warrior ------------- 22srwhp / 397lbs = 0.0554 = 18.05 = 27.1
14 Polaris Scrambler 500 2WD -- 29srwhp / 525lbs = 0.0552 = 18.11 = 25.0
15 Honda 300EX ---------------- 17srwhp / 377lbs = 0.0451 = 22.17 = 33.9
16 Kawasaki Mojave ------------ 17srwhp / 379lbs = 0.0449 = 22.27 = 34.1
17 Honda 250X ----------------- 15srwhp / 351lbs = 0.0427 = 22.42 = 36.7
18 Honda 250EX ---------------- 13srwhp / 349lbs = 0.0372 = 26.88 = 42.2
19 Suzuki QuadSport 230 ------- 11srwhp / 309lbs = 0.0356 = 28.09 = 46.3
20 Wal-Mart PowerWheels ------- .5srwhp / 50lbs = 0.01000 = 100 = 500.

1966 Dodge Hemi Charger ------- 433srwhp / 3500Lbs = .124 =8.08 = 8.5

As far as the decimal versus whole numbers, everyone does it in decimals including the original poster who I, borrowed the numbers from.
I don't really see a reason to add a 200lb rider since that will always be a changing variable. It will never be bike vs bike but I guess if you get the weight and power numbers, said bike is faster than * bike. For example I weigh around 130lbs while Nathan is well over 200lbs, if we both weighed and dynoed our bikes proving that his is faster but his extra weight tips the scales in my favor every time...

So you have a KTM motor in your blaster? That sounds really cool, there was a guy on craigslist a couple weeks ago with a polaris 400 motor in a blaster chassis which I could probably do for cheap but the blaster chassis and suspension looks less than desirable. My Polaris 400 motor according to the web should be making between 65-70 crank hp, but after 20% loss through CVT I figure that should put me around 55 rwhp which falls right in line with the people I have found with actual dyno numbers. In fact the Polaris Sport 400 in that list was 31rwhp while the factory's numbers said 38 crank hp and 31 would be a 20% loss through transmission.

Oh, Nathan, btw, if triples made such a huge difference on your top end it blows my mind to think what they could do for my bike ;)

Oh so your polaris is a smoker? This whole time I was thinking it was a 4 stroke.
I'm a fan of the old scramblers. Aaen has a 440 kit- full monty w/pipe that will have you at 75hp if you got some $$$$$.
Your problem is that damn CVT I wish they had a geared version of that bike.
Flotek has one of those bike that he like to pull wheelies on haha
My 406 should be putting down 60-70 @ 330lbs :)

I have an AAEN Stage 3 Polaris 400, which is suppose to be 61hp @ 7250RPM. When I ported this engine, Gabe's (Rubbersalt) porting program said with my compression which is above 150PSI I should be making around 65hp with just an 84mm bore. That should still put me around 48.8-52rwhp, I would be happy for anything in that range. As far as the CVT is concerned it's a love, hate relationship most of the time. I have clutched the CVT for a higher stall to put me closer into my powerband and take away the possibility of bogging in the sand. It allows me to have Low, High, Neutral and Reverse while only being 5% more inneficient than standard clutching in other atv's. Besides that, is the weight and problems associated with the clutching like engine TWIST. I had to purchase 90 Durometer mounts because the engine was twisting over half an inch! With my stall so high I suck gas crazy fast and I burn out for 20 yards on dirt or grass which allows high performance blasters to keep up with me ;) I can't wait to show Nathan what my bike does after it finds traction And gets on the Pipe :p

Aw bro you fellas need to get some vids up of these beasts.
I actually use the same wiseco rings that you do for my 400.
Currently I'm at 83.5mm bore with a 75 stroke.

I promise we will get videos up within the next three weeks.

84mm bore with 70mil stroke :)

This:
is the only video I have right now. I have done a lot of weight reduction, porting, new intake, new jets, 12:1 head, 13/34 sprockets and chain, etc. since this video. It's a whole other beast now and with the jets being real close now (Keihin 39 PWK AirStryker @ 155 main) it's definately a force to be reckoned with. I just need a larger diameter needle and I will probably be set. I would love to see this powertrain in a lighter, sturdier, and sportier frame one day. At the moment I am enjoying the luxurious seat/shocks that Polaris does the best. Just wish I could go into the corners like your blasters ;)

With the jetting out of whack (really rich) right after this video was taken I raced the 100lb neighbor kid who was riding a brand new TRX400 and waxed him to 75mph real good. The kicker is that I also had my exgf with me making our total combined rider weight nearly 300lbs. Also the bike was still heavy (95 xplorer) making the total weight over 900lbs...

Lucky duck with the electric start. Mines take a while to warm up too, normally a couple laps around the field I try not to push it.
There was a point in time I was gonna buy the Aaem pipe for my ride and have it reworked to fit but after alot of looking I went the custom route.
The 400 scrambler (modified of course) is one on the most legit 2t trail bikes ever IMO.
I'd be lying if I didn't say all the vids I've seen of them weren't that impressive,
but those bikes weren't modified at all really.
Bring on the new vidz haha

we have a vid of me racing spywell at aproximately 300ft. My clutches slipped half way through every gear , i out weight him by about a 100lbs,launching i couldnt keep the front end down while sitting on the gas tank and i think i was running lean but he beat me fare and square by 1-1 1/2 quad lengths. The last race i got the jump and he got me by half a quad. I let him ride my blaster first to confirm clutch slippage. WE raced after i had been giving it hell all weekend at the dunes. I lost a bolt in the clutch cover and it was leaking. All weekend every time we rode i was out front. when i fix my clutches he'll be waxed! P.s. i think i may find an equal weight jockey to make up for his 128lbs vs my 220lbs. I think we have mutual respect and that day he was faster . . . . barely!!!

Wow, so many excuses, i'm surprised you give me any credit at all. I had to put up with all your name calling and bullshit all year just to beat you "fare and square".
Lets see here, let me complain a little too.
Your clutches were slipping but my clutch spring wasn't even letting me get onto my pipe...
You were running Lean and I was running Rich and nobody carries a Keihin needle so I was SOL while you had a whole jet kit at your disposal...
The one time you got a jump on me I had just turned around and was slowing down to line up to you and you gunned it so you got +1 quad length and the jump and I still passed you like you were going slow.

You fix your clutch and I will fix mine, then lets see what happens... BTW I found a complete 300ex Rolling Chassis for $300 I might consider dropping my motor in :p

Here is the Math:
Nathan (220lbs) + Blaster (330lbs) = 550lbs
Preston (140lbs) + Polaris (500+lbs) = 640lbs

Nathans blaster assumed HP at the wheels is 35hp / 550lbs = .063
Prestons Polaris guestimated HP at the wheels is 50.7 / 640lbs = .0792
Preston on Blaster = 35hp / 470lbs = .0744

Now if I switch over to a 300ex chassis I would have 50.7hp / (140+350) = .103
I am also thinking about adding triples and a race pipe to the Polaris ;)

I cant wait to fix it!! u have 2 of the same exuses clutches and jetting.except ur bike didnt seem rich, lets race up a steep dune from a dead stop at the bottom too. u saw what mine does when the clutch did grab. I never saw u pass me all weekend until mine got week and we raced.I think i should have mine dyno tuned and post the results just so we have our numbers straight.

Yea, we both need to get our jetting and clutching straightened out. As for passing you at the dunes I was merely following you, you never left me and whenever you got on it I would catch up so fast I was having to hit the brakes to keep from running into or passing you. As for lining up at the bottom of a dune, I am all for it, that should be where my cvt really shines and even weight becomes a little less minute. I believe I have a huge advantage in this area because of my high stall.

Don't fret, you have a very fast blaster to be keeping up with a 60 horse polaris!

i never stay behind anyone i can pass. if u caught up then i was waitn 4 u lol. u did manage to not get lost when we played in the trails and i was surprised.

I have my 240 hd clutch kit coming in a few days and the next trip we take to the dunes i'll have little sahara sand sports strap mine on the dyno for a good tuning session. then we'll have actual numbers on my triple exhaust port build. I am curious to see what im actualy putting to the ground. You should do the same it's only $100 and i believe it will increase the value of my ride when i sell it. They also have dyno drags to see how we stack up to others!

After our last race wether I win or lose im sellin it to fund my stroker blaster and stroker trx250r and im gonna port out the mopeds joels got I'll even triple port my chainsaw lol with right bend pipes for everything! the sad part is Im serious!!!

You're silly, there's this game called follow the leader and I was simply playing that. Every time you gunned it I was catching up pretty quick. Not real sure about dumping $100 into a dyno until I have everything set on my bike. I would like to triple port my cylinder and have Gabe port it to match an 8000RPM Exhaust which would give me over 70hp with just 1mm over piston (84mm). Of course that means I would have to buy a new pipe and clutch spring. Also I have to go look at a 300ex frame and a 2005 YFZ 450 frame that could become hosts to my motor. It's no constellation that if I can drop the weight I would have a very hard to beat quad. Right now I have steel wheels all around o_O

I think a YFZPoPo400 that puts out 60RWHP would be insane!

The saddest part of this thread is that neither of them would race me. They knew what would happen that my triple ported YT175.

Lets see.. i start out at 220lb with a few things done to remove some weight.. you guys figure the rest! lol

It was a good race. Neither of them really had enough time to get it all tuned in right.
Since the trip out to the dunes, Nathan is getting closer with his, Preston has yet to touch his since the dunes.

Me.. i just built my own expansion chamber - BITCHESSS :p

If you hadn't piled a bunch of trash on top of my quad I might be more willing to ride it. ;)

If Nathan fixed his clutches he will probably tie or beat me, I am still deciding whether I want to sacrifice $30 to keep Nathans blaster from ever beating me or do the smart thing and wait until I get all the mods I have been considering and then think about a new clutch spring. The spring I have now I was doing over 75mph on before the port job. After porting, when I raced Nathan I couldn't get on my pipe, I was probably limited to around 50-60mph. Since nobody probably knows much about cvt transmissions the clutch spring has to be matched to the engine otherwise it will act like a rev limiter. All I need is the next size clutch spring and Nathans blaster would have a really hard time keeping up with my bike.

Now that I have explained my clutch problem multiple times, the reasoning as to why I havn't just purchased a new clutch spring is because I want to triple port my cylinder and get a new pipe. If I do either my clutch spring will be way off again and I am a conservative. I have spent over $100 in clutching to have gotten it this close. Also I need a new needle and possibly a new slide for my PWK 39 Air Stryker, right now I am lean trying to get on the pipe and slightly rich through 1/4 and 1/2 throttle. When I put the correct main jet for WOT the rest of my powerband is so rich it bogs and wont pull off the line. Nobody sells Keihin needles >( To compound the problem I want to stick my motor in a 300ex which requires money that I wont have if I purchase the other parts. Guess it's about time I got a job again.

As far as pictures are concerned I am surprised myself that the race videos aren't on here because they decided to use their camera instead of mine so they have all the videos. I would like to see them myself honestly (And Rubbersalt is probably the one to blame for the hold up)

Thrash on your quad? I talk it but i never pile physical thrash on it? i agree we should see the vids! im sure you can hear me feathering the clutch trying to get it to hook and the top of the powerband sputter at wot! when i pulled it apart there was clutch material packed in the springs and throughout the fluid. you owe me another race regardless. i deserve redemption!!!! if you can beat anything my triple ported blasty can bring than I'll pay for it!!! $30 you win best outta 5! if i win you owe me those banshee wheels your not using!
