Triple exhaust ports and what they are.

i ported a 2011 kx 65, kx 85 and kx100 today while all of this was going on and came home to this. Not how i like to come home. What the hell are you guys doing? My builder is this and mine is that. This kind of attitude is counterproductive to what this forum is all about. We're all here to help each other, give advice and solve problems. I've seen cylinders from all of the builders and i changed nothing based on what i saw. I like what i do and my customers like it as well. 442 sent me a motor to rebuild for one of his customers in canada. Did i look at it? Yup. Did i map it?yup. I've been doing this stuff for over 35 years and i don't need to copy anything! Who the hell did i copy when i ported the kx cylinders today? I've got a set of 1976 kawasaki 750 cylinders in the shop for porting and head work. Where did i get the numbers for this? It's very simple. I figure it out. If you want to send your work to denny, please do. He does great work. If you want a dyno sheet with big numbers, go to kennedy. I recommended him to a potential customer today. If you want me to do your cylinder, ship it. Seems like the general consensus among some of you is that i copied someone's work to build a blaster cylinder. Get a clue boys! This is not rocket science and the cylinders i get for a bore job with home porting will prove that. This forum is really starting to turn into a pissing match between some of you. The best advice i can give is to knock it off. We're all brothers and when we start fighting amongst ourselves, we just look like a bunch of jerks. Remember, this is the internet and everyone can see us with our pants down. This stuff just looks like crap. You have many choices when choosing a builder to port your cylinder. All of them are good. Send e-mail, call and make you're choice based on what you hear.

Thanks
ken

amen .

Ken laying fdown a novel of WIN!

Interesting thread guys!

For what it is worth, the KTM 125/200 uses 3 port exactly as you are building here, only with a twist.
They have a tube inside that port and twist it to open or close the side ports with the powervalve.
The two side gears are tubes with a hole in the side that matches up with the hole into the exhaust port.
They are closed at low rpm and open by a centrifugal governor working against a spring.

The diameter is still quite small, at about 8mm.
(the small upper holes are the powervalve pivot, the top one its actuator)

I thought I'd add these photos of the tubes that go in the side ports:

Oh, and Ken, EXCELLENT post about the the bickering that was going on.

Amen brother...

That's absolutely brilliant, I wonder if KTM will ever come out with a 2t atv with this kind of technology. A 350 2t KTM might just be worth the extra money or if Polaris is still with KTM, a much cheaper Polaris version. Like a new 350L Trail Boss boasting all the sportiness of an Outlaw; I love the thought.

dream on spywell... the only way you'll ever get triples in ur trailbuddy is if i do it! get a spare jug and we'll try it.
gabes yt is scary fast now but i still think nasty is king of our block!!

I think you should worry yourself more with that little Yamaha ATC 175, if you beat me then it's simply because I have too much power for your mothers little backyard. I'm not catching any traction for over 30 yards, your blaster just doesn't have the guts to do that :p

No doubt your blaster is fast but I am still confident I will take you; you would have to run with 450r's to run with me.

noobs- one of these days me or someone with a KOR motor will be around the same neck of the woods u are and we will see about kens work being sh*tty, there has not been one disappointed person on here with kens work, i talked to him for like a month before i sent my motor to him, he also could have charged me a lot for what else he did due to unforseen problems with the motor. but he didnt, im not going to down anyones porter, to each is own, hell i might even send my wifes stock motor to denny just for sh*ts and giggles and see what i can get out of it. all the builders want to do is port and come up with sh*t that makes hp. not read bs about whos better, i guarantee both are amazing at what they do thats why they are still in business right? because if they sucked ass they would not be making any money. even just having my motor done i have made a new friend out of it, i feel i could call ken anytime with any problem i ever have blaster or anything motor related. he doesnt just work on blaster motors, any motor he will do it, if u talked to him and had a full conversation with him u would probably think otherwise about ur statement. im not trying to be a dick but dont come on here and start bashin someone u dont know. unless its kennedy or yb...thats warranted. anyways

i read 21 pages and man this sh*t is cool, nate- if i send u a stock cylinder would u do the triples on it? how much would u want?

blah blah blah spywell this is a triple port thread not a debate over bikes, traction, builders etc. . . . Just TRIPLE ports and what they are we can start a new thread about why my $500 blaster will kick ur chunk of a quads ass in a race.

2smoker85 i would like to offer my nac for cuttin tripple but im still learning alot and ive only done 5 of them so far. Its always risky and im a novice. . honestly the only one i know of that offers it proffesionally is flotek. perhaps i could purchase a stock jug port it and then sell it? that way i take all the risk . . Im in the middle of getting everything ready for the big rattle snake hunt but may be up for something after the first of may as far as price idk? i'll think about it.

well i will send u a jug that needs work, that way if u wreck, no harm done, guinea pig? i got one for u if u want to do it for me, ill even throw u some cash for doing it. up to u, it will be going on the one on the left

that works man, il going to be deployed for a little while so it might be awhile before i can get it out, but i will def be a guinea pig and write a review on it.

This thread has already been spammed enough. A few more off topic posts isn't going to hurt anyone, besides I am sure everyone would love to see a video of your blaster getting slaughtered. You're going to eat your words come rattlesnake Nate!

lets line em up then we'll see preston. i out weigh you by a hundred lbs. and im still pretty sure my quad will beat you in every way except maybe a 1/4 mile. ur cvt clutches might pay off at the big end idk. but up any 500ft ,any dune or down any trail ur gettin owened!!!

Nathan, after crunching the numbers I think your blaster may be making roughly .09 Horsepower Per Pound which should put your machine up there with the banshees. I have no doubt in my mind that you would have beat the Kawasaki 400 yesterday, you should have raced him, he agreed to.

As for my Polaris, the bike should be making around 50-55 srwhp which would put me at .11HPP if everything is running like it should. It's too bad my chain broke after I got it closer to the right jetting, my bike was pulling HARD!
