oh cool, welding art looks so fun, my teacher is thinking of adding a welding art class next year...... too bad i wont be there anymore i would really like to take that.

well, went to test my bike stand today, i stood on it and had a friend step on the lever...... and the lever just folded......

made it out of 3/16th steel like the plans i found said..... so needless to say i pounded it flat on the anvil and made a big ole gusset for the inside of the angle, if it bends again i may smash it..... so many stupid things have gone wrong with that project

Great job Gizz. I see a future welder of America. Got to love shop class. I still use a small metal tool box I made in middle school. Granted it's only spot welded lol ,but I still have it and its being used. Do you guys do any casting? I remember in high school we did some aluminum castings,, it was pretty cool..

no, we just got this teacher and he plans to get alot of new stuff, the last teacher we had was so old "he welded the mayflower" is what we say and he sold a bit of stuff and alot of wht he had was so old and worn it got thrown away

he hopes to have a CNC for next year

Nice stand giz, for my lever, I used half inch thick flatbar, I mine with steel though. I had a couple problems with my stand but they're all fixable. If you can, use the half inch flatbar to make the lever. I'll get some close ups of mine to show you how it was built. Great welds though.

I liked that post cause your trying to figure out how to improve on a plan and make it better. Keep thinking like that, and your going to get it.

my lever was out of steel to i knew aluminum would never be strong enough for the lever, and 1/2...... hmm i would have to make a trip to the steel yard for that

I didnt make this at school... But its metal so thought I'd add it to this, my mom wanted some hard drives destroyed..... So now they became a flower
