I called LA Sleeve yesterday to check on the 240 kits. They told me another month before they would have the castings. They've been telling me the same thing for about four months. They then informed me that they were out of the standard and P1 240 Wossner pistons and it would be three to four months until they had more. They have seven P2 and 17 P4 in stock. Even if they get castings and start the cylinders, they won't have pistons for the kits for quite a while.

I found a link on e-bay that has the pistons. Better get them now while you still can.

this is the piston suppliers fault, not la sleeve, ct or vito's for that matter, the piston manufacturers have all moved on to the big dollar 4 stroke piston production, as have a lot of other companies, it's all about where the big bucks are at the moment.
fuk us loyal buyers who got them to where they are today

Wow, this doesn't sound good! Does this mean that the LA Sleeve BBK's are not going to be available for several more months, even as a complete kit? Sure hope not; I was planning on getting one next month!

when i ordered my la sleeve 240 kit i had at least a 7 mnth wait. this was 5 years ago..they do not start running these through production until they have enough orders to do, it does suck. but if they had more demand for them they would be more readily available.from what i understand the kits go through a few different shopd hands before they are available to us, so it takes a while. yeah if you guys eed anything for this seasons riding good luck, and get your order in asap. im pretty sure rjatv can get the piston kits..cheaper than the ebay guy, so give john a call.

Ah, OK. Looks like I may just wait on a BBK for next season and get a 4mm stroker crank + stock cylinder ported for said crank this season. Shouldn't have any parts availability problems going that route.

just because this person or company has the pistons listed, doesn't mean they have them in stock. I've run into that a time or 2 over the years, especially on 3mil cranks!

A business' objective is to make a profit.

You have to understand the piston manufacturer's standpoint. They are not only making pistons for an ATV that is no longer in production, but one that is using aftermarket big bore pistons. It's more or less a specialty piston and you can't expect them to continuously allocate assets to making those type of pistons when they are ultimately losing money by doing so when they can be making a financial gain and staying in business by keeping up with where the demand is and not where everybody's needs are. Sure they can step off and do "specialty" pistons every now and then, but to expect somebody to hire more people to take a financial loss on making what?.......20 or so pistons a month?......not really feasible.

as has been mentioned here already. its supply and demand. when the demand is high enough they will supply. right now the demand is in other applications.

if la has pistons in larger sizes, why not order up your BBK in that size ? are these cylinders steel sleeved ? or nikasil ?

if steel sleeved, order one up, have it ported and bored locally to fit the bigger piston. they might just make you a better deal if they can sell parts off the shelf today.

I ordered my big bore sleeve from la on monday and was told that the piston was in europe and I would have it in about 3 weeks. its longer then I wanted to wait but if it is on the schedule they told me I will still be able to get the blaster done before my first race this season

you can only get 3 bores out of a bigbore sleeve. with that being said you can see why people only want to bore as little as possible. i have done this with other machines though that i did not ride often and found great deals on pistons a couple bores bigger.

If you want to order 500 at a time... I'm sure they would.

i know for a fact that they'll punch out 8-10 pistons as special order/design for a race car, so i'm not sure why getting a few would be a big deal, however expect to pay for them!

so I double checked with my shop today and the standerd size piston is at least a month out and I was told that la sleeve is short for cash now too but they do have the 1st oversize in stock so I relentlessly had to have that piston ordered
