my daughter's blaster build

this was the color i was originally going with but my daughter changed her mind when we started looking at powder colors. i was also going to mod the pre '03 frame to accept disc brakes but changed my mind when i found the '03 and was able to get it for $700
this frame is also in my basement collecting dust as well as another thats un painted

1. clean

2. magic eraser the crap out of them. make sure the eraser stays lubed with the cleaner or its like fingernails on a chalk board.

3. rubbing alcohol. this will put a little bit of the shine back.

4. clean again

5. novus plastic polish. the #2 fine scratch remover

6. clean again

7. novus cleaner/protector

8. rock out! your done!

if you want some of the deeper scratches to come out then you can work it just like paint on a car. start with some 800 grit then to 1000 then to 1200 and so on to the polishing steps. unless your building a show quad its not worth going to those lengths to make plastics perfect when your just gona tear them back up anyway. imo

well i used an ammonia cleaner, only cause thats what was laying around at work where i did them. i really think any cleaner would work fine. if i were to do it again i would prob use a highly diluted degreaser. i think it would work better

and yes! it was a crap load of work. it took me a few hours to get it all done

ok so now im out of pics so ill have to go get some more work done on the blasty

Lets see....
I have a Carb, axle, front disc brake backing plates. If any of that stuff is worth anything to anybody let me know. I also have a set of double pinch spindle a arms with good ball joints.

I think I also have a set of standard spindle a arms with good ball joints too. I also have at least one set of tierods but I think its more like 2 sets. A freshly sand blasted steering stem and 1 set of steering stem plastic bushing thingy

hey how about a price on a frame, full set of arms and spindles, some front wheels, a jug, and a few other odds and ends? i REALLY need that stuff..

well emory.. it's looking good. i still say you should get some nerfs on there for her.. you might wanna look into a teather kill switch as well. i have a greenish yellow one in a box if your interested.

Yea ill do nerds if I can find a deal on a used set. There's no reason to buy a new one when I'm just gona PC it anyway. I wish I would have known you had a kill switch I just bought one last week

Stunning job on the powder coating!!! Like a previos poster said you should start a thread on how to powder coat in your own garage.
