Well just when I though I was done I find myself buying another bike. I just can't help it. It's right down the street from my house. Literally less than a mile!

It's an 89 LT 250R. Motor runs and everything works. Needs plastics (Or paint ) and he said "The exhaust needs to be welded." No idea what that means, but I will find out. He is texting me a pic of the vin so I can run it. He says he was told it has a lot of motor work done, but he doesn't know what. He doesn't know much about the bike for some reason. I will be getting a bill of sale and running the vin, that's all I care about.

Any guesses on what i'm paying?

somebody cut the "baby bird wings" fenders off ?
that could be a good thing, I always thought they were the ugliest things ever :)

those appear to be aftermarket a-arms ?

seeing as how yo got a free shee......this guys paying you to haul it away ? :)

Haha. Pretty close. 500 bucks! He wouldn't give me a price. He just kept saying "make me an offer. So I spit out 500 bucks thinking he would counter. Then he said "When can you come get it!) Should have said 200 bucks lol. Looks like it has a pipe and cool head.

it has a 6 bolt, so I knew it was after 87', From what I read, each year they would start the serial number with the next letter in the alphabet. F=85----G=86----H=87----skips I-----J=88----K=89----L=90----M=91----N=92.

LT250r 87-88 Reliability guide

Engine crankcase recommendation

sealant: Threebond 1194 only since silicone will get eaten by gasoline.
seal: use Loctite on every seal to prevent from moving
bearing: use oem only

Crankshaft recommendation

Never hammer on crankshaft, use special tool to remove
cold down the crankshaft before install to help seat on the engine bearing

Top end recommendation

Use Heavy duty thrust washer and RM bearing only
Be sure exhaust bridge is correctly relieved. ( see picture)

Gasket recommendation

Use OEM Head gasket only
Use Cometic aluminum base gasket number: B0047032AFM. Only then add Threebond 1194 to prevent leak
Use Threebond 1194 on intake gasket/boot to prevent leak

Piston recommendation

piston manufacturer: Wiseco only

To improve wrist pin bearing lubrication,
drill a 10 mm hole on the intake side centered 15 mm down the lower ring groove (see picture)

To improve exhaust bridge lubrication and prevent top ring seizure,
drill two centered 1.5-2.2 mm hole on the exhaust side, one centered between the two existing hole and one below the second existing hole at the same distance than first drilled (see picture)

89 blaster89 what is all that ? ^^

Do you mean the drilling of the holes? Its for xtra lube for the piston.... Every Piston I have/had for the lt250r's (some other bikes too) come with instructions saying the same thing..

Wifes,, you know I have some things for that if you plan on rebuilding.

depending on the color of the plastics under that paint, Maier has a clearance going on right now for a full set of LT250r white Carbone look plastics. We just bought a set for the 85 Lt250r My brother in law and I are restoring for him so he can try to keep up with my 88 LT250r. The cool heads are nice, I have one on my 88. Try to figure out what size dome it has. I run the 20mm on mine. I could go to the 19mm but I think my bike runs pretty damn good. I go riding on the trails with the 4 pokes all the time and have no troubles at all.
