Re: Finally Ready For Dream Build ... Need Engine Suggestions

everythings looking fresh, great job with the colors. I:I I:I keep up the good work

with +0 +2 arms and my g-force axle i run the big spacer on the outside with just the smaller one inside,
the width is great for my tight trails with trees and such. it fits the front nicely this way i have
found, i think its 49" wide this way

Thx that's what I mocked it up and it looked best just the way you said. I'll just have to ride it I guess to see what I like. I def aint goin full width it gives like three inches over fronts per side even with +3 arms

And little3mil ...I like the blasty

I will have tons of pics soon havn't had a chance the last few days

Re: Finally Ready For Dream Build ... Need Engine Suggestions

Been hella busy with work but got my rear fender all ready to cut. It will match the angle of the heel guards at the bottom of fender and both sides will match ( a first) so no hole for fender well. When done it will look as if I built boot guards at the bottom of the fender there will be no aluminium showing although it is what I used to fill fender well with a custom plastic backing peice that sandwiches the sliver of fender that still hangs down left side (from front) this is similiar to the earlier pics but will take pics of how I did all of it since fender cutting is a large topic on here)

dvh3tk.jpg

The left side is not the final piece it just was a mockup to mark angles, It will actually be lowered so they are at the same heigth. The top line you see is where the angle comes down as I am going to two tone these with thick vinyl (the lines you see on left hand side) It will also protect fender from wear. My wife has a really cool machine that can cut stencils into vinyl so I might do something with this?

Re: Finally Ready For Dream Build ... Need Engine Suggestions

Ok, so I got my rear fender done,

Step 1: I cut the fender then mocked two symmetrical aluminium pieces that would serve as the new heel plate .... the stock plastic ones would not work with heel guards.

See pic above for where they were cut

Mock Up:

1z18hw9.jpg

Step 2: I cut a black plastic backing plate for the left side (from front) to strengthen and sandwich the fender slice. I also got some super thick vinyl as seen in picture. The Vinyl sheets are N-Style number backing plates picked up from my local dealership in a pack for 9.99. I choose this because it is made for fenders and will not wear out from my boots anyone who has dealt with these knows they are thick, thick, vinyl. Also my boot will no longer catch in the fender hole.

All Supplies & Finish Pieces:

I wrapped the aluminium heel plate over all edges. The result was they came out looking like plastic pieces. Also now when/if they wear out just unscrew re-wrap and be done with it. This will solve issues I've had in the past of my boots scraping fenders.

Bolted up and done, I could not get the best picture as the flash kept shining off the vinyl so I had to turn it off. As you can now see they are symmetrical, the bottom angle matches the top of my heel guards, and no more fender hole plus added protection. The aluminium actually makes the fender stronger where it mounts which is another thing these still use all stock fender brackets. Lastly they wrap around the edges so you do not get the flat plastic look of cut fenders, in fact if you didn't know you would never be able to tell the fender was cut.:

I am cutting custom YFS200R decals for the rear fenders and will still continue up the angle shown in previous post. Here you can see on bike (and how they wrap edge. I will also be replacing the stainless screws with black ones.

Re: Finally Ready For Dream Build ... Need Engine Suggestions

Next anyone who has ever had a swingarm shop swingarm knows that they have a crappy tab for the slider so I cut this one to make up the remainder

I'm going to have to paint this since I did not think of it before powdercoating

Re: Finally Ready For Dream Build ... Need Engine Suggestions

All the wiring tackled ... you can barely see the adapter I had to make to mount the hydraulic lines so they would fit above my arms

fjm2qt.jpg

Headlight cleaned and mounted, .... and most of the controls minus tclutch cable (just ordered a new throttle cable) new pro-taper grips though used scott grip glue and let em sit for two days and they won't budge an inch....lol oh, and moose banshee throttle

You can also see my new shock covers above and here....

The center pipe of my exhaust runs super close to the YFZ reservoir 1/2 inch so I think I'm going to have to wrap it with some heat tape. IDK ????

I'm working on tearing these down for the fronts today put in new pads etc. I thought about switching calipers but these still work fine so what the hell....I also have to rebuild my mikuni 34mm tm flatslide carb but am not sure if I'm going to keep it or run something else.

Thanks you all for the compliments.

The arms are ASR long travels. I've had to do everything on somewhat of a budget and these fit into my range. They were 420 and another 50 for lines. ASR makes these to take a YFZ shock but will make them to fit any size shock you request at no charge. I had originally chose to use 400ex shock size front and rear. This was because I had planned on using a 400ex rear as most here do. I scored a pair of 400ex shocks that were extremely nice but I could not get them serviced (pics earlier in build thread). I ended up with YFZ's anyway...lol but aftermarket's in front and dual springed revalved stock rear all done by HLS/GTThunder. The fronts had to be adjusted longer to fit Arms but this setup ended up giving me a higher ride height which worked well since I 95% of the time ride trails that are extremely rocky/etc.
