Re: Finally Ready For Dream Build ... Need Engine Suggestions

So I have ridden a bit during break-in and tuning and messin around on the street, feel confident in now starting to beat it up on the trails. Coming will be more full pics with the few decals I have left to put on (just some small stuff), and my full skid which I am brushing now (after building a new mount system)

My buddy has a white backdrop (he tells me) that he is going to let me use to wheel in and take pics in the the blaster before it gets f**cked up trail-riding. So look forward to those they should be sweet. I think those pics will be the ones for blaster of the month.

Also, as soon as I can I will upload a running video

And Yes to whoever asked, I just put on all the bearclaws as I plan on some crazy weather and trails as I start beating this thing up.

And to those who don't want to go back a page thinking I once again did not leave pics ...

Re: Finally Ready For Dream Build ... Need Engine Suggestions

Anyone who wants to vote for me ... BOTM is entered ... Thx to everyone who has helped along the way ... (too many to list) but it has been much appreciated and this Blaster would have never been finished without all the help this forum has provided.

Re: Finally Ready For Dream Build ... Need Engine Suggestions

i don't think anyone else will enter now, out of fear of losing, u got my vote when the time comes around man, not only for the sweet quads, but for being a very helpful member

Re: Finally Ready For Dream Build ... Need Engine Suggestions

Took it for its's first trail ride today which I'll get to, but I wanna see if I uploaded this vid right first ... I was trying to get it up on two wheels but it's a lot different on a 49 inch wide quad

Re: Finally Ready For Dream Build ... Need Engine Suggestions

So took the blaster out for it's first real trail ride today, I rallied it around pretty hard ... first, on the street for a bit then rode about 40 trail miles. It held up awesome, although it isn't so clean now. Few things, I'm still gettin used to how wide it is and the limit to which I can push it in the corners. Though it is much greater than before. Most importantly, with such a bigger wheelbase I am definitely going to need a stabilizer. The steering is heavier (i assume due to the width) but I had a few good rocks push back hard on the fronts and could feel more feedback? whatever though it was on the list to do.

Anyway, a nice side pic of it, out on the mountain today -

In case you wondering about the rear height the shock in the rear is dual springed to sag to where the frame is level ...

Re: Finally Ready For Dream Build ... Need Engine Suggestions

Are you still running a mostly stock motor?
It looks great. How is your suspension working out?

Re: Finally Ready For Dream Build ... Need Engine Suggestions

The casting flaws were cleaned and the exhaust port polished, the intake and inner reed cage were ported as well, but no cylinder porting yet, it'll be coming this winter.

I listed all the work in my BOTM entry though if you wanna see it all

I dont think i ever heard what your plans were witht the motor i know you were unsure last time i talked to you about it. Whats this badass blaster getting to haul it around the trails??

Well, I have a plan. Not going with a stroker, but a mild trail port/head mod, Mikuni TM34, and Dynoport Pipe are planned for this winter. Probably December, there will be to much snow to ride here then anyway. Just wanted to get some riding in now.

I will say with the extremely improved throttle response and the torque I get from the gearing, for riding my regular trails it is set-up good, i'm never out of fourth/fifth anyway. My regular trail I ride is about 60 inches wide, rocky as hell (hence the tires) and climbs about 1200 ft elevation (so hilly). Anyway this is why I'n not going overboard on the motor, though the upgrade will be to kind of just fully round it out.

Also, They will be listed but if anyone wants to call dibs on my TM28, or DMC, the carb which was new (just scroll back a couple pages) will be 85$ and the DMC full system $150

And Thx Kronick for finally editing my Thread name

Love the build and the attention to detail. Waiting patiently for BOTM voting to open up. You got my vote.
