Like just to make sure your airbox and everything is sealing right? Or to check for gasket leaks?
the purpose of a leak test is to make sure your engine[crank case/cylinder area]is leak free.an air leak may or may not cause a performance issue,but will cause a lean condition which could destroy your engine.a leak test is 1 of the most important things you can do to insure the life of your engine
Just searched the forum, Think Ive got all the stuff I need to make one. Sure Ill find a bunch, just hoping this bike doesnt turn into a huge money pit.
So theoretically since Im hvac certified I could charge it with a n2/r22 mix and use a freon leak detector to pinpoint my leaks right?
So since the previous owner had the oil injection line just cut, not plugged I could have some issues now?
You may have to check if the pump has been disabled or removed.

So just became an official supporting memeber. Thought Id show what happened to the carb for the slide to lock up, and maybe blaaster or one of the more knowledgeable guys could explain. Carb was in the guide, expanded out or something. So heres the pic, click on it to see I guess.

just figured it out. Its not just carbon film, not quite sure. Took from my crappy phone camera.
the black on the slide is normal wear, all of them do it

Between you, dirty and blaaster's insight the money was well spent. Dirtysquared, Carb just came today, thanks a ton. Went out and bought some pressure guages to do a leak down test. Thanks to everyone for the help, and I'll be keepin you guys updated on how she turns out.

no more than 7psi. when doing the leakdown test. a bicycle hand pump works best.
get a 1-1/8" Dorman brand rubber expansion plug from the auto store to block off the exhaust port
