sup guys i really want this 04-09 YFZ 450 YFZ450 GYTR KICK START KIT OEM COMPLETE - eBay (item 380291016086 end time Dec-19-10 17:29:54 PST) i can get that or a full exhaust ? i really dont rely on eletic starts iv charged my battery up loads of times (and i only had it a week) as im the type of person to take a 5/10 min drive come off it for a few mins and do the same ! so i really want a kicker(that kits really cheap as the kit is usually 600+100 for the lever) but you have to split the cases which i would only fugg up at! what you guys think?

if you have to keep recharging your battery, something is wrong. like a bad stator or bad battery

^^^ i checked this out on yfz forums they say the altanator aint great in them , and i love kick starts!really even if it had a battery that never died i would still get one, every eletric start i'v had has died when i least wanted it to!

i would say just get a new battery or stator, whatever the problem. i think the only reason for kickstart really is to save weight cuz batteries can be reliable. i really dont think its worth 300 bucks plus a TON for labor at a shop to have a kick start, when you could have a electric start for much cheaper. and if you engine does have what you say it does, then it could definitly use a better pipe.

No offense but get what parts you need first.
Last thread you said you didnt have money for a rear caliper? Why dont you get a rear caliper, disc and hub and the other parts you need before you spend that money on a kickstarter? If you think you are going to mess up on splitting the cases, then youll either try and do it and fail and have to spend money to get it fixed, or take it to a dealer and pay them. Either way you cant do anything without money. Even if yfzs "alternators" are bad, there no reason you should have to keep charging it up. Sounds like a bad battery or a problem with your stator. Once again, dont take it the wrong way but do the obvious first then worry about what you want!

i understand ya man ! i aint gonna lie nearly every wire is taken out of it (for racing i assume? ) like theres no on off fan its on all the time (which i kinda like ) but i bet he had the stator disconnected (or faulty reconnected) when doing that ! i dont mind any of that aslong as the damn thing would say chargerd! honestly i love kickers and dislike battery starts ! yes i was planning on getting the caliper first

oh and the otehr thing , to get someone who knows what their doing to look at the wiring loomb/stator (spelling? ) wouldn't be cheap either ! its not the batter yas i have tried a few different ones!

Get your quad in good working order before you blow it up dude. Search around for a wiring harness, rear brakes, get it jetted right, and get those shocks fixed. I know its tempting to ignore those but you have to do the necessities first!

its been parked since o found out it was lean , and will not be cranked until i get my jet kit (which i ordered)! im ordering rebuild kits for the shocks tomorrow , im bnot sure when i can affored the loom as no $$ around ! and the only loom with the battery connectors and solniod , hasn't got the lights connnections on it anymore (so its as good as my own!http://cgi.ebay.ie/YFZ450-WIREING-H...ors_ATV_Parts_Accessories&hash=item3f04b6eb27 could it be the solniod thats causeing it as when the batterys low all i can hear is clicking coming from the solnoid ?

The buzzing you hear from the solenoid is from a bad battery. Theres not enough battery juice to crank the motor.

you beat me man, but also check the ground wire, it happened to our bayou 220 and it got a new battery and still wouldn't start, so we checked and sure enough it was badly coroded

well i charge the battery, its cranks and turns fine but slow? and starts right up the i might drive fro 15 mins then turn it off, then it turns slower until it stops turining , batterys not charging

if that thing was used to race before, i would get a torque wrench and go back and torque just about everything to spec. i know how it is at the racetrack when you need to make some adjustments and are in a hurry

That doesn't necessarily mean the stater is bad. Batterys that are old loose there abilitly to hold a charge. If you keep charging it, it should atleast be able to hold some sort of charge for a while. Replace your battery, then report back to us.

ya i think you will need to get one iirc.
but i would say do a visual check of the stator to make sure it is not messed up.
and yes you should go throw and make sure no bolts are loose.
i have lost parts because the bolts became loose and backed out.
