The lightest Blaster possible

I have an obsession with making my Blaster as light as possible. Everything from titanium to losing the lights. Recently, I was looking at some drag bikes and came to the realization that a single piece 4130 Chromoly steering stem is the control of choice on drag Banshees and such. For good reason, drag bikes want to be light and these stems weigh 3.5 lbs. I have no fear running this on my Blasty even for every day riding and duning. Some I feel worry way too much about vibration. Let's face it, in stock form these little bikes don't rattle that much! So, dodging the over rated and expensive Anti-Vibe bars ($300 plus) where could I get a sinlge piece stem like the drag guys/gals use but for a Blaster not a Shee? :-/

I really don't know. I have heard mixed replies. Some say yes, a Banshee stem will fit on a Blaster, some say no. What are your thoughts?

As in mill from the retainer down, or just at the point? When you say fat I think of three points where I might have a problem. The points where the rods connect, the stem retainer, and where the nut would go at the bottom.

Maybe I will give it a shot. I just hate trying to make parts fit, it always seems to bite me in the ace.

The next question is about length. Is the stem length on a Banshee the same as the Blaster? I guess I will have to measure it.

Super Noober you are the man! See I need to find info like this. Let's get this going. I will ask questions and we will build the lightest bike possible. It seems as though the Banshee guys have it better in regards to aftermarket stuff.

What about the rear brake lever? I found a billet rear brake lever that will shed some weight, will that fit a Blaster?

if the steering stem is stock banshee length then it will be a bout 2 inches longer. It will fit but you need to turn down the end so the blaster frame will accept it.
VV this is warrior stem but warrior and banshee stems are almost exactly the same. there is just two little tabs on the banshee stem that need to ground off
left is the blaster right is the warrior

as for the pedal, im running a banshee pedal but it is a bit long

there is a guy near me selling every chrome piece you could think of from a drag banshee. he wants like 275 for a chrome 1 piecs steering stem with straight bars

A bit off-topic, but related to light Blasters: I'm on the same quest. I lost the front bumper (5.9 lbs), and when I needed wheels and tires for the front, I specifically shopped for the lightest 6-ply rated tires I could find and went with a nice light aluminum ITP rim. The tires are Maxxis Irazrs. Very light and great tires too. My next major step is a pair of fox floats for the front. Should save another 6-8 lbs. I'm already planning on rebuilding my custom aluminum air box using lexan for most of it. Likely save another 2-3 lbs. I've got ideas for a lightweight swingarm too. I shaved all the unnecessary brackets etc from the frame. It all adds up. My machine is noticeably lighter feeling on the trail, and next time I'm at the metal salvage yard I'll weigh it. I'm not surprised if it's very close to 310 lbs or so.
Every time I do anything, I try to build it as light as I can, and I try to remove whatever is not necessary.
I also removed the new style hood and put on the old school hood. It's about 3/4 lb lighter.

Do we really think the 20lbs or so you can save is going to make that big of difference on an every day blaster.I would honestly put the money spent saving weight elsewhere.

i could see saving the weight in a drag situation, but for trail riding i dont think its that important

also who says that antivibe stems are overated....yes they are expensive, i love mine and it made aton of diffrence in the feeling, shock and arm pump...and i can ride twice as fast through really bad rocky trails
