something doesnt seem right

ok me and my friend like to race each other both of our quads are bone stock he owns a 1989 lt230 with manual clutch and he's about 5'10" weighs about 140 and i own a 1993 blaster and i am about 5' 11" and weigh 225 i mix my gas at 24 to 1 and i had a bad sprocket i put a post of it in the misc. section.
the thing is that when we race hes abile to keep right up with me, something tells me i should be abile to blow him away.
what do you guys think could be the problem.

lol talk about an old thread well ive beaten him i a race recently it was my sprocket set... and he just blew his motor up like 3 weeks ago go figure lol=))

hey i have a lt230 and i could blow past my friends blaster he had rad valve fmff fatty and 14/40 gearing . all i had done was a shaved head polished, 3 angle valve job and dg pipe no port work or cams
