Project super sleeper shee

I cut the dogs on a Ford toploader transmission many years ago.
One problem I had was huge driveline backlash.
Made it hard driving on the street, but it never missed a shift!

Does this mod do the same thing, increase driveline backlash?

By cutting off half the dogs you are giving the gears 50% more time to get engaged.
My trail set-up already had problems shifting under load at high rpms.
The dogs literally were getting in the way.
This should fool them into thinking my rpms are only half of what they really are.

I'll def let you know how it works out but my research on the subject says this is how to get it to shift like butter.

Other mods I have on board to shift:
Modded shift star
Modded shift shaft for more travel on the shifter
weaker spring on the shift star detent lever
a bearing on the shift star detent lever instead of a bushing
a bearing on the shift drum instead of a bushing

After this there are only 2 more things that you could possibly do for about $500 which I refuse to do:
Use billet shift forks and have the entire trans and shafts micro polished...PB

I got the crank back from Wildcard. Brandon did a great job.
The welds on the pins look professional as expected and he upgraded the bearings free of charge for my wait which = a class act in my book.
BUT
Whats wrong with this picture? Anybody want to guess how much less pride you gottah take in your job at the US Post Office to bend a Hotrod like this?
And they wonder why allegedly the PO lost millions last year.
Yes it was insured. Yes the the PO will lose $$$$$ on repairing it.....

It's already back in Wildcards hands and Brandon said he will get it done asap thankfully so I can still goto Busco.
I'm grateful because the insurance claim is gonna take weeks.

damn sorry to see that happen to you PB, hope it all works out for ya !
but it looks like it was packed with the rod ends and crank ends only protected by the cardboard box ???

something that expensive would have been packed in a crate/cooler/tote with tons of packing around it had i been the shipper

Good luck getting money from the PO. I had the same problem and i got nothing because they claimed it was not packed to there standards and it was packed perfect. I also took extra insurance out but after a month of waiting i got a letter saying they are not responsible because of the type box. I sure hope you have better luck but i somehow doubt it.

Looks like the damage is on the shop that mailed it like that not the post office. Its got nothing between rods/either end of the crank, and the cardboard box. Should have been some more foam action there for sure.

I like the color scheme on the bike, i really need to tear mine to the frame and paint it.

Also ran the 2into1 carb setup for awhile its great for trail riding imo.

There was a foam cover that matches the one it is sitting in.
The crank came from taiwan then Florida, then to MD then back to Florida then to Utah all in that box.
It was the trip from Utah to MD that caused the damage.
Wildcard is handling the claim I:I

Might as well make the final update to this thread and send her on to the archives.
Wildcard Racing came through and I got my crank 4 days before the Busco trip- yeah!
I can't thank my man Brandon, and Shay enough.
The big motor sucked so much air through the stock carbs I had to reverse jet it.
I had to go back down to stock 25 pilots and move the clip on the needle all the way to the top.
3 7 0 main jets seemed to work best.
With the bottom end jetting being as lean as I could make it, it was still rich and stumbling in the midrange.
It did pretty good running in the unofficial arm drop nite drags once I got the hang of it.
Quads, dirtbikes, 250s, 450s, 750s, even 800s all went down :D

So there you have it. A stock head, stock carb, stock airbox, trail piped, stock swingarm, w/ heavey azz Kenda Bearclaw mud tires Banshee can ride everywhere all weekend and still be a star at the track lol
My mission is complete, a super sleeper shee :D

Heres some pics of the new motor in frame.

good luck getting ur money from the PO they LOST my buddies movado(1k watch) and after 4 weeks even furnishing the tracking number the reciept for the watch and a statement from the shop he bought it from because he sent it back due to wrong type, they decided the watch was only worth 250.00... so its pointless to insure anything these days, they are just going to put it right in ur pooper when u file a claim, its worse than filing a claim on ur insurance....good luck paulie
