porting template?

thats some interesting stuff, couple that with what ken oconnor taught us this week and it seems possible to diy

for a $100 for the template and shipping, i would send it off to one of the builders here that have all the tool and research to do it right the first time for just a little more.

that would be great ken. im not sure but the template probably is set up for a stock baster meaning stock exhaust and exhaust. unless they have variations for better top end or better low end to match aftermarket pipes. like fmf for good low end or toomey for good top end. not sure tho. just guessing.

I just got off the phone with John Caldwell, the owner and inventor of these templates. What a nice guy!!! The good news is he has them for Blasters and mine is on the way. After talking with him for a while, I think this is going to work very well.

Turns out that John Caldwell was a factory tech for Yamaha. I asked him what he used to design the template.......TSR, BiMotion software. He laughed and said he's was writing this type of software when those guys were in diapers. I'm really looking forward to this. After a brief conversation, he's going to send me the template for free so we can try it out and evaluate his work. He was shocked that this was the first time we had heard of him. He said the Banshee guys are very happy with his work. He also stated he was very involved with the design of the V Max engine. Real cool dude.

I know a Blaster template has been out for probably 10 years. I saw them every now and then on ebay. Don't know anyone who has tried it though.

I got the templates today. Not bad for a phone call on Monday to Michigan! I checked the templates out and they look great. I can see how these plates are a huge help when cutting a radius. It's difficult to lay out accurate lines inside of a cylinder if they aren't 90 or 180 degrees. The plates make it a snap. The owner ( John Caldwell ) even called me to see if I got them and what I thought. He watched the porting vids I did over the weekend ( kind of like standing naked in front of a crowd ) and offered some advice on different processes. The plates are his version of fast trail port. Nothing crazy but his specs make sense. The exhaust port is sick! I need another cylinder so I can try this.

i would offer to let you try it out on mine. i got to extra cylinders. or take the one off of my running bike but it would be a waste of time because my crank oil seal on the stator side leaks air/oil. when i put it in it leaked so i took it to a atv shop and let them redo it but he said it was out of round, he went ahead and put one in anyway and it still leaks. and i know its stupid but i still ride it. i jetted it a little richer. but im sure it wont last long. i wanna see this port job in action so do it on yours or someone that you know will put a vid up.
