New SCD racing topend

I must say that I am not totally impressed.

Although the exhaust port exit looks polished it could be a little smoother.

wow man your too funny!

My comment was on the poor work on the exhaust port, without knowing that arrangment was for the owner to finish the work.

The other work was quite impressive but the exhaust let the side down.

Quite honestly would you run an exhaust port like that?

Is your exhaust port stock? With all of the pics of special work done, we all lose sight of where these engines come from. Stock they're TERRIBLE. Basically, even a total hack job is an improvement over stock

I currently run one in about the same condition as pictured on my yellow quad right now. It's an arm ripping 248cc stroker big bore..... in fact, I asked Scot how he got his SO shiny so that I could use the same method to polish mine like that....

Those pictures were taken after a 220 grit sanding drum and 400 grit sand paper wet sanding. The pictures make it look like it's bad but it was actually MUCH smoother than a factory exhaust port.

well if you had that cylinder in your hands you would have seen that you couldn't feel any of them. the flash of my camera just highlighted them even though you couldn't feel them. yes i would expect someone to run a ported cylinder like that. most would. i just prefer a super mirror finish. I did the same thing to my last topend i had ported. Nothing is every shinny enough for me

surely you havnt seen my jb special..... hell i added crap to it and its better then stock... lol now thinkin of it i spray painted the inside of it to look nicer for pics. and yes the motor probobly digested most of that paint.

I am in no way bagging the work done by SCD, I was merely mentioning that the exhaust port looked poorly finished.

The port did not compliment the other work performed.

Any job worth doing is worth doing well, but at the time I was not aware that the owner was going to finish the polishing.

If a builder delivered a jug back to me with a polished port looking unfinished, they would never again see the colour of my money.

Compare the two pics of the same port.

Everyone understands that the entire purpose for polishing the exhaust port has nothing to do with power?

It's only to help fight carbon buildup (and it's kinda questionable whether it does that longterm). An exhaust port left rough cut burred would still put out incredible power....

I would like to point out that these pics are different , One is right side up and the other is upside down !

Come on!!!!! What's next? Are going to tell me my Vito's sticker didn't add 3 HP?

:o well my vito's sticker certainly does! but a perfectly polished (to a mirror finish) exhaust port does not add 3 hp :( unfortunately. If it did, polishing a bone stock exhaust port would be an awesome mod!

Hey easy there , I polished a stock exhaust port , but mainly for the purpose of keeping carbon buildup to a minimum !
