Hi everyone
I'm new to the site and new to the blasters I'm looking at a 97 200cc all stock and pretty clean for 1k just curious what to look for when purchasing. I ran a compression test and it showed 145psi wot cold engine any other tips to look for Would be great

If the owner will let you do a leak test.

Check for green/blue cylinder base gasket, they leak.

145psi sounds a lot for an older engine, ask about re-builds and re-bores.

Check for bent items and any slop in joints.

Over all chassis is in good condition no bends loose ends it runs great fires easily needs carb work but can't do a leak test

It leaks fuel when sitting but not while riding. I'm assuming the float gets stuck I was told it sat for a little while. so I'm going to go though it and clean it up.

If a bike sits for a while then the carb gets gummed up, it will need a full cleaning.

If you buy it do not start it until you leak test it, you do not need any nasty surprises.

That thing is very clean. I agree what everyone else said when looking to buy. I also give them the bounce and shake to see if shocks are blown, and if wheel and axle bearings are shot.

Good luck!

Very nice shape and clean. There's no paint wear on the frame (location: front bottom corner of seat) typical wear spot for a quad with a decent amount of ride time especially a '97

Very clean, but i would talk him down some.

Its completely stock, which is good, and bad.

With 145psi, it was either never ran, or rebuilt. Probably the latter of the two.

Looks nice. For some reason i love the red blasters. 135psi sounds good. Excessive carbon build up on head or piston will increaese compression but with the look of it i doubt its that. Maybee not ridden much or ask about if its ben rebuilt. Also does it come with paperwork ? just a few things to consider..

It comes with the title as far as paperwork. I plan on doing a leak test on it at some point this weekend and finding out what I can about the rebuild history on it
