Ok im about to bolt this 240 kit on after following ken oconnors vids on youtube (btw very nice!you explained it well enough my g/f said i think i can do that.lol) and wondered what the opinions were on breaking the engine in in winter were?Ive never broke a 2 stroke in in the winter but then again i dont like riding much in the cold.

So what do you guys think wait til it warms up or go for it in the cold?i live in illinois and we have some very sh*tty winters like this one.

I personally don't ride the quad in anything less than 45 degrees and I jet accordingly for it. I do my heat cycles with a infrared thermometer and never let things get over 220 degrees. Your jetting is probably going to be off so monitoring the temperature is important. Just do three heat cycles letting things cool off between them and take it easy on the revs for the first tank of fuel. Don't add extra oil to the gas. If it was mine, I would wait for Spring.

yeah waiting would be best . If you can't wait I suggest to jet rich ( don't go crazy ) and after each heat cycle look at the plug and drop down a size or up depending on how it looks . After 4-5 Heat Cycles , Go ride it easy like ken said , watch the revs . You'll probably find out you use up that first tank of fuel until the rings seat , and then your tank will go a lot farther ( That was the case with my rebuild , was kinda surprising ) .
I love riding in the snow , but damn you gotta bundle up , last time it snowed after about an hour I was so cold I thought the fluid in my eyeballs was frozen . Good luck on the 240 .

Man...... Ive been warming up my engine the wrong way in the winter....Hehehe.... but I have a laser no touch thermometer so I guess I'll wait till it warms up. Thanks Ken!

what do you mean? i warm it up the same way i warm it up in sumer, just let it sit and warm up... lol I:I i have rode mine when its been below zero out without issue, what i dont like is the deep snow.

Well then im going to wait and keep the current mill together so i can ride in the winter.we keep getting more snow and i like riding in it but damn it gets cold!

Again thanks for the info on porting the blaster jug.
