is a mostly stock 06 blaster except it is running a uni filter with no lid and it has a FMF fatty and power core on it. my riding elevation ranges from 5,600ft to 3,000ft. it doest idle well at all even with adjustment either its too low or its reving way to highso i know the pilot must be canged. its currenty jetted for glamis which is around sea level. just wonder what sugestions on jet sizes would work best for me. thanks for any help

need some more details. how many turns out on air screw are you when its reving and when its idling low. what pilot are you running. have you cleaned carb lately? how does plug look? check for air leaks if its reving up and very inconsistant...

no idea in the current jet sizes, just got the thing used, the owner couldnt tell me when i asked him, when i got the thing the air screw was all the way in and the carb was way gummed, so i took it completely appart, used carb cleaner and got it all spotless. i backed out the air screw about three turns i wanna say. it is currently jetted for sea level, and thats not cutting it up in the mountains, when it is hot it idles fairly high, but consistant. when shes cold she barely idles at all

well 3000 to 5600 is enough altitude to warrent a change. You are going to richen up the higher you go. so with such a change your jtting needs to be really good.

Start with the airscrew 1 1/2 turns out.

i figgured that much, im just un familular with the blaster so idk what sizes to even start with on the main, the pilot, and the needle, i wanna be sure i dont mess up with my calculations and dont lean her out tooo much

you need to pull your carb and then take the jets out and let us know what size you are running. depending on how good your vision is you might need a magnifying glass.

my altitude is 1 mile(~5,600ft), i pooped in a 280 the other day and she developed a massive lag but idled much smother. i put the 240 back in and she is nice n snappy. it idles low at first and high when hot. i checked for air leaks and nothing... im confused now

i visually inspected the whole intake took it all off and put it back on, the jug is immaculate, checked the cab to see if something was put together wrong,,, nothing

High when hot certainly sounds like it is lean. Stock pilot is 23.5, but most find that sufficient with minor mods. What does it do with the air screw out 1/2 to 1 turns vs. 3 turns out?

When you cleaned it did you make sure you could see through the pilot jet? Did you spray through the passages, making sure the carb cleaner sprayed out into the carb throat?

I'm not surprised the 280 was big at your alt, but you still might consider trying a 250 or 260. Having the lid off lets in a LOT more air. (230 is stock)

I literally doused the carb in cleaner. i tried running the screw at all positions from 1/4 turn to 3full turns. with the lid on the beast wants to die, and with the lid off its able to manage to somewhat idle high. there seems to be no happy medium. i think im going to buy sizes 230 thru 270 since i already have 240, and 280 and try them all. on all of my dirt bikes and atvs ive never had to mess with the pilot and im thinking its not that, im going to blast it with cleaner once more.
