im thinking about getting a dirt bike in the next couple months i want somthing cheap. and i want a 250 i found i guy wiht a older 1985 yz250 says it runs needs nothing. he wants like $550 i would give him more then $250 for it but what do you guys think. heres a pic.. i have found 125cc's of like 200-300 with blown top ends like 89-95. but im a big guy and i feel ill need a 250cc and i may convert it to dual sport so they wont bother me when im riding.

yea thats a nice bike but parts for it would be some what hard to get. if you can get a newer 125 for cheap that would prolly be your best bet,

IDK, thats a pretty old bike. You could get a much newer bike like a ttr 125 for prolly like $900. True its not as fast as that 250, but its a good bike to start on and u can always sell it in a year or two and u could get something like a crf230 or something

I just picked up a 1994 RM80 on craigslist a few weeks ago for $200. It needed bored and a top end done, right now I'm working on gathering the funds for a new top end and in the meantime have been working on little things on it. I'm pumped to get the motor redone.

go for it my dad said he raced dirt bikes and he loves them more than quads, mabye you would think that then to

Like stated before, parts might be hard to find. Why not look for a newer 125? The newer 125's make descent power and you can find them pretty cheap

i don't want a 4 stroke.. i don't want to have to fix a 4 poke.. and there mad slow.. ill need to get a 500cc to be at the same speed as a 250cc 2 stroke.

well what kind of bike are you lookin for, trail or mx? and ttrs are ok but sooo slow and not a lot of power at all, my buddie has one and its reall hard to even pull the tires off the ground

If your looking for a good woods/trail bike, check out the KDX200/220. They are awesome trail tuned 2 strokes that you can lug, or wind out. Plus you can find them dirt cheap. I rode one the other day and they're really nice bikes.

You lose, dont make assumptions if you dont have information. But if you are just going to go fast in a straight line then dont get a motocross bike. No dirtbike is made for that, so dont try. If you are going to ride trails get a KDX like someone else said. or a wr250f or 450f. And you dont have to work on them, IF YOU TAKE CARE OF IT.

If you want a 2 stroke trail bike go with a Kawasaki KDX200 (I've seen older ones cheap on CL). If you want an older MX bike you should have no problem finding an older 250 2 smoker on CL either.
