How to block off the oil injection thing

S**t NO !!!!!!!!!!!

Do not add oil to the mix if you are running oil injection, wether you are breaking in or not.

Either run injection, or pre mix, you cannot do both.

Well you can, if you do,"Boom"
This is what it says in the clymer manual to do for brake in.
But I would emiminate oil injection in any case and mix 32:1 any way.

Do they say to increase jet sizes to compensate for a lean mix, which can cause detonation and overheating.

If not then the writer of that manual, should be stuffed with a rough end of a pineapple.:D

No just says to run first tank of gas pre mix 50:1.

Well that just shattered all faith in the Clymers manual!

Lol.IDK.But in all honesty I dont think it matters.I dont have much faith in the oil injection system from the get go.I have no ideal what the mix is.I just premix.

But what would make the wheeler run lean? It was running perfect day before? Just doesn't make sense to me...

You could have shipped some crap in the needle and seat, restricting fuel flow

If you were riding on rocky ground, a rock could have punched a hole in the case.

Carb boots have been known to crack.

If you have adequate supply of fuel to the carb, I would do a leak down test to see if any air leaks,.

^^^^Definitely 2nd that notion. Also, DO NOT RUN PREMIX IF YOU ARE ALSO INJECTING. You're going to drop your Fuel in the AFR and increase the Air/Oxygen which is going to run you SUPER HOT!!!! Sure you're breaking in a new rebuild, and supposed to do heat cycles (check my sig for KOR Proper Heat Cycles Vid), but the "extra" oil does nothing but allow you to burn hotter because of an imbalance of air to fuel. Also, check YouTube for JLSparky's videos on carb jetting and fixing leaks. One of them has a very good explanation of AFR (Air-Fuel Ratio) and why it's critical.

It was lean yesterday so I dropped a splash of oil in it thinkin maybe the oil injection got clogged and put a new plug it.. Runs to rich now. Thinking I jut had a bad plug.

Would half a turn on the air screw make it lean too? I turned it in half turn. I drive like 3 miles barely on the gas. So I think it's just the air screw was lean, maybe

We have been down this track before, dropping a splash of oil in the tank will make for a fuel lean mixture, because of the oil taking the place of the fuel..

Explain what you mean by it was running lean yesterday, did it stop smoking, did it seem to run out of fuel.

Do you mean by it is running rich now because it is smoking.

Clear up the confusion please, is it oil rich, or is it fuel rich?, because they are opposite,

How the hell do you tell if it's oil rich or fuel rich? Yesterday it was just running fine and perfect an then it just went lean

It went lean, ok I understand, maybe from a fuel blockage, but why did you put oil in the tank, that would make it leaner.:-/:-/:-/

What were the symptoms that made you think it ran lean yesterday?

Just thought that maybe te oil injection was clogged. I'll empty the tank and clean the fuel filter. And put in just gas

Good idea, drain the tank of fuel, fill with fresh fuel.

Fill the oil tank and bleed the oil pump, and oil lines.

Now is the time to consider deleting the oil injection.

Good luck.

The oil injection does not run a mixture of 32:1.More like 40:1.Not sure as its not a consistant mix but a couple ounces in the tank with oil injection is still going to be around 32:1.Not sure where to much oil is a factor here.32:1 is more oil than factory? This is just what is says in the clymers repair manual to do for first tank of gas for break in.But no big deal. But you are making it sound a whole lot more extreme than it really is lol.At least we all agrea to just mix the gas manualy @ 32:1:D

But yes I agree.None of us know what you got going on.And blaaster is right do pute some fresh gas in the tank and find the root of the cause.change the filter if equiped and check that the oil pump is working. We prefer to not run the pump and mix our own.Right now as far as the info you have provided that its running lean all of a sudden points to a pluged jet or fuel line. And if this checks out and is ok and problem still persists then we can go to the next process of elimination.Always tackle the most common and simple causes first. Its the process of elimination.Patience one thing at a time.Sorry as I did go off track a bit with brake in and stir your thread a bit lol.

like someone said before, it wouldnt hurt to check your reed cage/petals. if they are old and worn it could be the cause of your problem. i learned the hard way that running the oem reed cage with out the "petal stoppers" on is a bad idea. my engine was running perfect then all of a sudden it just ran like hell and died. after i pulled the carb and saw no problems there i looked a my intake boot... nothing wrong with that either! so i pulled my reed cage and i was missing an entire petal! check all those things and you might find your problem before you go and change your jetting
