Did a plug chop

I finally got a good plug chop I:I I did wot up a hill and held the brakes, it pulled hard for 6 seconds I would say. I got a blackish ring around the base of the plug so I'm thinking I'm a tad rich. Its runs awesome now pulls up in every gear almost. I'll post pics soon

Of course your rich you have a 330 main! My trinity came with a 270.

ok sorry for the long delay, ive been busy at my grandpas all weekend making $$$, I was with a 350 main jet and I only went to 4th gear but held the brakes some and did it up hill. runs real good, im trying to find the picture. one sec

I'd say it sounds like you may very well have an air leak if you need to run a 350 bro ! Leak test her man, even if you have done so recently. Better to be safe !

i literally just leak tested it, awk ran similar mods with 330 main jet at 1500+ feet elevation

My trinity pipe which is the same exact design came with a 270 jet. I never ran it with a stock carb, but 350 seems huge. I would expect to see something like that on a ported 240 motor. Something is wrong.

its a leak tight motor. all carb fittings are tight and everything. I even sprayed starting fluid all over everything to test

Is it a genuine mikuni jet? Remember this thread? Everybody (including myself) has already told that main jet is to big. If it runs good with that jet there is something wrong.

Idk then, it just seems to rich of a jet. Is the o-ring on the air screw? Gasket on the cap?

So that puts you in the 360-370 range in the winter months! If it's leak free and the plug is a light brown then I guess your good to go. I would be doing a little investigating if I were you though.

the plug looks a tad darker in person, more a blackish brown color

So where do you look for a leak I you do a leak test and the motor itself is air tight?

I mean this either points to a leak in carb or on the intake boot between the carb and the air filter right?

Is using start fluid/carb cleaner the way to go?

Just asking because I'm in a similar situation with my bike

yea the motor is airtight, no way to leak test the carb fittings except by spraying starter fluid on everything while its running, listen for a rpm raise

IF the motor really is air tight, then your carb is sucking air ... Which of course wouldn't be found doing a leak test ! It could also be a possibility that spraying starter fluid all over could have caused a leak after the fact ... Remember rtv's are only gas/oil RESISTANT !

And if it is sucking air the last thing you want to spray in there is starter fluid. Thats the worst thing for a motor.

Do you have the oil injection port on the carb blocked off?

Especially for these smaller motors. I've sprayed around my carb/boot with small amounts of carb cleaner ( which still is not good for the motor ) but would NEVER use starter fluid !
