Okay so i have finaly got my quad back amd all rebuilt. Been run in and now want to change some bits. Findimg the gearing way to low, i use this for road use so goimg about 45 feels like im reving it to hard, i know there is more power there but dont like to feel like im thrashing it, so i have a 13 front sprocket and 40 rear and running at20 tires on the rear. What could i do to get better top end, when i pull away all it wants to do is lift onto the back wheels until 3rd - 4th gear. Just want more top end

14/40 will give you more top speed and less acceleration. changing one tooth in the front is like changing three in the back. If you decide to alter the gearing by changing sprocket, change both sprockets and get a new chain as well. New sprockets with a worn chain will cause premature wear and possible case damage, if it breaks. Mark the faces of the old sprockets and put them in a bag with the old chain the set can always be used again.

gearing ratio of 12-40 I dint mind flicking through the box id just like it to stand up on command without struggling top speed isn't really important to me I understand how gearing works just prefer to hear off someone who has tried and tested 12-40

Well i have bills pipe exhaust and different reeds. Cant remember which. Pretty sure it isnt completly stock though

Lookimg at the link that was posted. Just changing the front by 1 tooth is only going to give me a few mph difference

We run 12:40 with 18" rubber and I assure you with a perfectly tuned Bills pipe yours will rear up on command!

A 14:40 should give you more speed!

for road use as rob-daisy states, try the 14/40 or even 14/38 for more top speed and less engine labor at cruising speeds.

cheers blaaster just what I wanted to hear ive got 255-50-8 rear tyres iirc and my pipe will either be an lrd right bend or Paul turner dependant on which seller still has them when funds permit followed by v4 reeds carb bore
hoping for some 3-4th gear power wheelies

Well being that LRD hasn't made a pipe in over 10yrs your probably gonna end up with a Paul Turner pipe, unless you find a used LRD which is getting harder to find by the day.

defo lrd yes also used from Ireland via facebook I'm just not keen on the fmf bit too common for me ive always used pro circuit or hgs
