Best gearing for fmf?

if you're gonna fine tune that far looking for the sweet spot spend ur time on the carb. There's a reason u dont have the bottom u should with that pipe and its not in .06 of gear ratio... I've spent many of hours with 5 dif builders, 4 dif pipes, 2 carbs and many other parts fine tuning. The fmf with 13 40 is the best package for low to mid on alot of dif combos of cylinders... i still think ur time would be better spent on the pilot and needle.. jmo

/\ thats coming from tons of mx testing and experience.
with trophy's to back it up !!!!!!!!!
check what pilot is in it, airscrew set at 1.5 turns out, stock needle on the middle clip position and report back
and that motor has to be absolutely air tight, before any fine tuning can be done
was it leakdown tested ????

its funny you say that, i got the carb on the desk now in pieces. whats a good pilot? its got a 35. in it now, the kit came witha 32. factory needles on third spot. sound about right?
oh, and the main is a 290

theres your problem, that 35 pilot
stock is 32.5, and thats tits for all but the most ported motors
put the 32.5 back in and she'll be rippin again !!!!!!!!!!!!
middle clip on the needle
1.5 turns out to start on the airscrew, fine tune it for highest idle and clean revs, then adjust idle with the idle screw

ah see said the blind man, when i bought the kit my homie told me to run the 35 pilot a 310 for the main to make up for temperatures up here. i changed out the 310 cause that mutha was tooo rich. youre right, that 32. is the one i took out before.

Thats the Money Shot right there uh huh... just started the blaster with the 35. pilot jet removed and put the 32. back in. no bog or dog! the quads in pieces for the rebuild but the engine still mounted. hot sh*t! very thankful for all the help; kgibson(florida roxs man!!!) and awk08 for their great input! i wish i had rep to give so a big thanxs will have to do!!!I:I

Thats cool glad ya got it goin better...alot of people dog the fmf but i found it to be the best for low to mid power. Works great on a heavily ported cylinder and a 30 mil carb too :}

It had a procircut on it when I bought it. It had a lot of pretty good size dents in it so I got the fmf set up. Fmf always worked good on my rm250. This being my first quad, I started to read some reviews and none were very favorable on the blasty.
