I took the engine apart right after labor day weekend. So its been a while. I can't remember where it came from but it came out of the motor. I can't find it anywhere in the manual or on a parts fiche. I even called Ken and it didn't ring a bell with him. I also have a nut left over and its the same story. Can someone help me out???

Defintly the kicker spring and nut. Their should be a little ball, like a bb too..

exactly !!!!!!!
i believe thats a 7mm ball bearing that goes with the spring, it hits a notch inside the kicker base mechanism, and keeps it in and from beating the hell outta your shin during riding

they don't show it on the fische, cause it's not available seperately, only as a $90 whole new kicker, i was able to work with my dealer and find a suzuki streetbike passenger peg spring and ball that work

Just looked at my kicker. There is no spot for a spring and bb. The kicker feels like its working how it should with somekind of internal stop inside to keep it folded in when riding.

the spring and bb are the internal parts, if it's holding in, and you never took the actual kicker from it's base that bolts to the shaft, then that spring must be from a ball point pen (i tried one of them, didnt work), hahahaaaa

I just removed the main nut and removed the kicker from the shaft. I'm starting to think that its not meant to go in the engine.

you really should start to bag and tag when stripping! that spring sits at the hinge point of the kicker where it folds up. it helps stop the kicker flapping around while riding, keeps it tucked up against the frame. did you take loose the big counter sunk phillips head screw on the kicker?

wait, upon further, enlarged pic investigation, that looks like the air screw spring from in the carb

your air screw should have a spring on it to keep it from backing out while riding, keeping your setting where you put it

funny, i thought that same thing at first glance but public opinion changed my mind! the nut however definately looks like the kicker nut tho?

that is a detent spring, which could go in one of several places. the nut looks like it may be one of 4 'jug mounting nuts'.
as for the spring- may guess is it either sits in the kicker assembly, (like everyone else said. Or it is used inconjunction with the shift drum, specifically the "pegs" that follow the shift drum channels.

good luck!!

we need more info, how far did you go in terms of stripping the motor? what did you strip? and what diameter is that nut? take another pic with a ruler in for sclae or just give us measurements.
