Tri-Z swap when my LT is done

Nah I've just been crazy busy with work, school, college, a girl (lol), and another site so I haven't had any time to mess with this one. Also haven't had the money to get the motor all squared away so that's delayed me too. BUT just got in from trying to find a place to put the rads aaannnnddddd that's gunna be the worst part lmao. One of them can go on the angular frame rail that comes down in frot of the engine (the right side rail and right side rad) but the left side rad position will be taken up by the pipe. Or at least it is with the blaster pipe. Idk I guess I need to pull the 200 motor and mock up the 250 motor and pipe and see what works where ya know? Also, don't know if the thermostat will be going on it. If it doesn't HAVE to have it then it won't. I don't see it 100% needing it unless a Tri-z enigine runs absolutely frigid

Maybe this may be some inspiration:

The single sided DT200 rad seems to work OK in most conditions but is marginal.
The in frame Mojave 250 rad has no problem whatsoever in any condition.
The thermostat is Ninja 250, any will do and I recommend one.

The DT top end bike has the rad where I was talking about. The Tri-Z has the dual rads and I was thinking of putting the other on the opposite frame rail but the pup is in the way. And I don't think a single center mount rad would work cause of how the Tri-Z pipe mounts in the front and also I don think it'd be as visually appealing as dual rads lol. I'm trying to make this look like Yamaha themselves built it

The DT200 single side mount is a simple job and will keep it cool enough until you get in sand.
I believe your single right hand rad is even larger than the DT200?
Put a ducting shroud on it and you will be fine.

Another option is to mount it or a second rad on the front, like a Raptor or Banshee.

Personally, I think you will be fine with one rad. GIT'ER DUN!
Get it running and you will find a lot more motivation.

Thanks for the pics and info. The Tri-Z rads are mad in a way that you can't run one or the other you HAVE to run both. I had thought about the single front mount rad but there's no where to really put it cause under the hood is the wiring harness ya know and I'm not fixing to put the new style hood on it (cause it looks too much like a craptor!!!) so side mount is the way to go. I had though about rear mounted rads but still theres no space. Idk, I'll figure something out I'm sure.

In typing this I've realized that you could use just a single z rad but I would have to be the left hand one since it has the cap but then it would be mounting backwards (I'm on an iPhone on the bus going to school or I'd go back and change what I said in the beginning but yea, pita...)

Nothing wrong with mounting it backwards, will work fine if you are OK with where the inlet and outlet tube point. Ebay and bike salvage yards are full of great alternate rads. A single Banshee or Raptor rad has the capacity and can be mounted on the side too.

I really like how that rad was mounted too!!! its in the perfect spot, almost as if yamaha did it themselvesI:I. I made up some small mounts from steel with a vise hammer and drill, Welded them to the rad guard Both bolt to the fender mounts for that side.

The left side was a bit puzzling to me, with the left bend pipe its abit more tight squeezing anouther rad in. You may be fine with useing your drag pipes.

no you will not need the fuel pump if you use the blaster fuel tank.the motor will not just mount right up it is too tall you will have to fab front motor mounts.but don't forget about the radiator mounting.you can use the stock Tri-z,that is what I did but I was thinking of using a banshee radiator.good luck with your build it is very much worth the effort.

If I PM you my cell number could you text me good detailed pictures of your mounts and everything? I was actually going to give up on this project cause I have way too much going on now as it is. Was just gunna put the Tri-Z motor on the shelf since the Z is getting a TT500 mill LOL

My Son and I did a triz swap (quad-z) a few years back, I now have posession of it since he went into the Army, I've ridden it a few times in the past couple years ,

I have been off this forum a while but recently been lurking , fixing to renovate the quad (needs berrings badly )
So I'm here for inspiration
Lol!
