I get a laugh out of the listings you see for ragged-out quads that say "runs perfect, but needs carb work". Yeah, sure. So let me get this straight... 8-|
I got screwed when I bought my first Blaster. I bought it from a guy who had it put up in a storage unit for awhile. When I got there to look at it, it took him forever to get it started. I just assumed it needed to have carburetor work done. After he got it going, it ran and test rode well enough. I shut it off, looked it over, and it kicked right back to life. He said it had "just been serviced and checked out by a shop" (don't they all?), and gave me a reciept for some work that had been done. Ok, he's trying to be honest, I thought, so I bought it for $ 900.00. Yeah, really bad idea.
The top end and front end turned out to be beyond worn-out, and I realized I had been screwed. I sold it for $ 500.00 a couple months later, and used that cash to buy another Blasty with kickstart problems that really had just been rebuilt. It, too, needed some work, but was in much better shape. Lesson learned. Check things out thoroughly, and walk away if sonething seems amiss, because it probably really is.
