Are your teachers and healthcare workers allowed to strike for better wages there?
Here our civil services is striking now for a week already. All schools are closed state hospitals are closed!
Do you think people in these sectors must be allowed to strike?
They want a 8.6% increase this year and government will give 8.5%

i know when i was in high school our teachers almost went on strike. they was able to work out an agreement before it happened though.

also here usually the healtcare works make decent money, good benefits for the most part.

plus right now, most people are just happy to have a job.

its hard to say if they are justified inthier strike without hearing all the deatils but if it boils down to a .1% then they are being rediculas in my book... but yeah dude this is america, people do what they want regardless lol

That is true! The problem the workers are no stopping people to go to hospitals to get help and if you atempt to help people you are intimedated. People are dieing in the street in front of the hospital and having babies in taxis.

The government are to sh!t scared to do anything. You know we have human rights here!HAHA. If the police get involved like yesterday, schools and hospitals get burned down

I'm a Union Member , local 32 Seattle Plumbers and Steamfitters , & Gas Fitters , the people IMO have the right to fight for what they deserve , its truly our duty to ourselves , and workers to come to show owners and employers that if they want the best work done , they need to pay for that . For health care workers I would suggest a tactic that is used called " slowing " its a way to continue your commitment to those that need you , but it also lets the company/employer know they have to step up and provide what the workers need and are entitled to.

Agreed! But if the strike harms the people on the street and not the employer it is time for action.
Striking is one thing intimidation is another!

that is when tear gas, rubber bullets, strong tazers should become involved. and i agree about the human rights, that is why the government needs to step in and protect the rights of those that are not getting health care.

IMO a union can be a good thing but construction unions are the worst... picketing places that chose not to use them or ive even seen losers picketing outside a insulation company i worked for because we were not a union shop... uhhh hello, this is america and people have the right to not be in a union just as much as people have the right to form a union.

In the US teachers and health care workers are not allowed to strike by law. There are civil penalties which can range from fines to jail time. That's not to say though that it doesn't happen. Teachers Unions and Nurses Unions have both gone on strike (very briefly) in the past several years.

TIA my friends...This Is Africa...lets demand higher wages and demand free textbooks and lets burn down or school we demanded last time to show our seriousness...that way we will have textbooks but no school!! yes..the logic is that good..or lets burn the trains which are late so that they do not come at all! yes, that way we will all benefit!

I do believe it is in the constitution that you are allowed to strike. I may be wrong.

what I would love to see is the formation of the United Union of the American Worker UUAW . if we as blue collar people , had a single registry , a single Hall that represented US as a whole , not just 1500 people here and 3-4 thousand people there , but I mean hundreds of thousands of workers , people from all professions . if a Union had 1,000,000 members , paying 20.00 a month in dues , We literally would have employers by the sack , and we could level the playing field and really get back to what matters in this country , Hard work , not watching others work hard and gaining from their toil . I would love to see the UUAW ten million strong , and able to fend off sh*tty employers and keep the good ones strong . JMO , everybody's vision is different .

You said it man! Is he strike hitting you to? I see from today the police and prison wardens will also start to strike!!!
AFRICA ISN'T FOR SISSIES!!!!

well not directly, varsity is unaffected, my GF is a highschool maths teacher and her learners are all away for their own safety, the staff are still going because they lose R500 a day for striking...mmm kinda dumb...the longer you strike the more money you lose so your increase basically pays back the days you where striking for...again...logic..GOTTA LOVE IT!! haha
