Ok i started to port my engine own my own. Now when i did it, i just liked shaved the walls so they were clean. Will that effect anything? like just taking a small layer off the ports? And do i need to shave the entire ports like clean? cause i cant really reach every little part with my silly dremel.

Did you watch the vids?
I:I

Ken's video is great !! Will you get as much as Ken gets? No. Will you get an improvement? Yes. I:I With out more "tools" you can't do a whole lot to the transfers at the cylinder, but you can get some of the flaws with a flex shaft and small diamond ball bit. Lots of improvement on intake, transfer bottom, and exhaust . I also use sanding rolls on a mandrel, I call them tootsie rolls.

I highly doubt Ken would make and post a vid if there weren't gains to be made, wonder if Ken would give an estimate of % difference in power. :-/

yeah ken. I watched all the videos. thats why i started doing it. But like i dont want to like open up more ports. i Just want to clean all the carbon or whatever the sfuff is in the ports off and have some clean ports. Does anyone know what i mean?

i get what u are saying but thats not going to gain u any power really.. kens how to is great and super easy but will actually gain u some power. and when u do it all that carbon ur worried about will get cleaned off too lol :D :D I:I

silly noob i know. just i cant mess up this cylinder and dont have the tools really nesesary to do this correclty. and i dont have monies to throw at someone to do a nice port.

I say man if u dont have the tools or the money to do it then i would say leave it alone until u can do it right cause wat always happens is that u will mess something up and then u will really screw up ur bike

I just wanted to see if i could do it right. I have instructions by Mr. Oconnar himself.. please excuse the mispelling :( but he shoed a video, and i followed his videos.

I was in same boat and have asked a million times what is the best thing to get carbon etc. out of ports. I was planning on doing the same thing through kens vids but recently took another top end off to clean it up, hone, and just get a motor running.

I know what you are talking about though, I got mine blasted and there was still some factory paint/carbon? left right where the ports/intake meet the cylinder. I have opened a few threads to see if I could get an easy answer to maybe an chemical solution that would take this off etc, as you have to do it from inside the cylinder and I dont trust putting my dremel in there and slipping. I am worried about the small amount left flaking off in cylinder but have not gotten any answers?????????????????

you can take a dremel with a big sanding drum in there to knock off all the carbon buildup in the ex port... it would take alot of sanding in one spot to screw it up. just go lightly and keep it cleaned out so you can see what you are doing.

I got that on exhaust port, all cleaned, My concern stemmed from where the intake ports/transfer tunnels? meet the cylinder there is still a little buildup

the amount you would take off will a regular dremel by cleanin the ports is miniscule. Remember to never sit the dremel tool in one spot. Best would be to smooth and even the flow of the ports out after cleaning them. Any casting flaws like chips or mumps should be taken don to even with the rest of the port. You "can" polish the exhaust port to a mirror finish but leave the intake port rough like maybe 60-120 grit sand paper rough at least.
