I bought a 2001 blasty on craigslist off some guy who blew it up the took the head off of it then let it sit in the back yard for about 3-4 months.. bearins still feel fine but the inside cavity is all nasty including the two port holes... im gonna clean it up with some carb cleaner and the air compressor..dothose ports go that breather hose for the motor? I thought those might be to releave the bottom end pressure???

I know someone one her knows...

THANKS!!! I:I

Are yur talkin bout the 2 holes right above the main bearings on your crank? Those let the oil in yur fuel drain down & lubricate your crank bearings/seals. If you have crap in those holes you need to dig deeper & clean everything. Ya don't wanna blow whatever's in those holes down into the bearings. IMHO

i agree i would split the cases and just clean it out and than this way u can check to see if any thing else is out place. and if u split the cases i would throw in new crank seal if your ganna have the cases a part.

ok thats what those are..
Its NASTY all gooky.. theres no other way to clean it air isnt enough...
I rebuilt another blasty about 4 months ago it was all nasty inside too. i used a lil carb cleaner and put her together she runs great..
any tricks to cleaning them out? i was gonna try goin to and buy some pipe cleaners

MONEY MONEY MONEY... im unemployed i already have to do the top end i was hoping i could get away with cleaning it out..
splitting the bottom end is prob a pain in the ass an i wrong???
Im trying to rebuild to sell it..

cases are a pain i think. if i were u then u would just pull the bottom end from the bike since your straped for $$ and tip it up on side then u mabe able to take some carb cleaner and lightly spray it into them try not to blow any trash down into the hole tip it down onto a rag so that u can kinda flush it out and then i would try to shop vac the rest of what evers in there out i wouldnt blow any thing down into it thats about all that i can think of with out splitn the cases

i haven't actually gotten into the splitting yet, but i got my motor completely stripped down and ready to split in a little over an hour with no air/power tools. its not that horrible to do it, and its the best way to do it. think of it this way, little money for sealer and gaskets now, or lots of money for a complete rebuild if that stuff gets in the bearings and messes them up

iwish i knew it looks like just water and dirt.. yikks!!! (I took the engine out last nite..)
I shoould have taken a pic before hand.. I used some carb cleaner tipped the motor completely upside down and worked at it..Its spotless now... i used a good flashlight and from what i can see its clean.. im gonna spray it one more time to be safe then fll the whole crankcase up with oil for the nite or a few hrs..
