Whats up guys Ive got a problem. Just bought this blaster a few weeks ago and took it out and it sounds funny to me especially at low RPMs. When I get it going it is now starting to die after 30 seconds or so. Here is a sound clip from when I tried to run it today. Any help from you pros would be great.

sounds like dirty gas, maybe to much oil, and carb probally needs cleaned! What mix ratio are you using? any excessive smoke? heres a lil list that should help you!
* change plug *check reeds
* clean carb *change air filter
* fresh gas * check compression (anything over 100 is good)

The gas is has been in the tank for about 20 days so I will try that and the mix is 32:1. I will get a new plug and check the reeds and clean the carb and see what happens from there. Thanks for the advice and prompt reply. I did let it warm up but only for a few minutes.

Which oil do you reccomend? I just bought a couple bottles of Spectro Platinum SX2 last week.

Spectro has a good history. Just about any full synthetic oil mix you should be able to run at 40:1 without any problems. I run my banshee at 50:1 with amsoil interceptor. Have been for 5 years without a problem or rebuild.

How long the gas is in the tank does have a little bit to do with having "bad gas" but you gotta figure you dont know how long it was sitting at the gas station or in the tanker. You could buy 12 gallons of gas let it sit for 3 weeks but it was still bad gas then you bought it. One thing that has helped me is to add an ounce or 2 of seafoam to the big gas can, 5 gallons+ (not your blaster gas tank). It helps absorb the water and cleans your engine too. It also serves as a fuel stabilizer.

Heres what I would do just because it is a new quad to you.
1.Use the fuel that is in it in your weedwhacker
2.clean out your gas tank
3.Clean your carb (i have a writeup in the DIY section that should help)
4.New plug (make sure you gap it correctly)
5.Readjust your idle jet
6.Clean fresh fuel (87 octane is fine if you have no motor work, higher octane just throws money away) with a little seafoam mixed at 40:1 with a fully synthetic oil

Any questions feel free to post up or PM me.
7. Might wanna consider a head gasket but if the other stuff works dont worry about it.

^^ good post, also i just made a post in the "misc" section, it has User reviews of diffrent oils, to give you an idea, but myself, i use maxima no smoke!
