What is the best 240 kit available for the Blaster.... Keep in mind we ride at Little Sahara in Oklahoma and some air-colled bikes tend to get overheated. Should I step up to a 240 or just step up one piston size from stock?

you can run a 240 kit, just run it a tad rich, have good air scopes on it, a good pipe and dont ride it hard the whole time.

the LA Sleeve big bore is the best big bore out there

if your bike is jetted properly and has good airflow over the motor you can run it forever without overheating

but before you spend money on a new jug and the supporting mods to really make it work, figure out why the thing locked up in the first place

Isnt it overly beneficial to ride in temperatures such as now going into winter? Such as i can eide harder and longer now in 40 degrees than doing the same in 80 degrees? Probably dumb questions, just trying to relate to the 240 overheating being discussed.

Well,... I found some time to break down my locked up Blaster. The front left piston skirt had been busted of in several pieces. I guess one of the pieces fell down to the lower end and locked it up.

Anyone had this happen to them?

that sucks man. need to check all the bearings down there to make sure those little chunks of aluminum are out of there.

and this happens fairly often when a cylinder is just worn out and the piston to wall gets out of spec.

another thing check the cases closely for cracks

Too much piston to cylinder clearance probably. Hard to tell. Kind of looks like the piston was galling anyway. Are you running oil injection?

Check the very bottom of the case for damage. Sometimes when a skirt breaks it finds its way under the crank and breaks the cases out. Make sure your cases are good before your engine back together or it'll do the same thing again!

that usually happens bc of too much piston clearance. the piston can rattle back and forth(piston slap) and eventually catch on ports and bust the skirts. I would just take it to a shop and have it measured and buy the appropriate piston for the new bore job.

they hell with checking bearings, i'd replace all of them, crank end bearings and the rod big end bearings.
theres going to be fragmentation that you can see, little specs of metal everywhere. why take a chance and not spend a few bucks more and do it right.

this coming from a guy who just completely rebuilt a basket case and cant get it to run right. lol. at least i know the engine is solid
