Well I just want some insight as to where im allowed to ride because today some ass hole called the cops and wanted them to arrest me for riding up and down thelane my friend lives on and his dad pays to maintain it but it is legally a road because it is their address but what do you guys think since hepays to maintain it do you think its legal to ride and do what we please on it because the cop was bein a dick and said we werent but im pretty sure hes wrong.

No nobody plows it or anything and its dirt so when theres potholes and sh*t my friends dad has to pay to get it fixed but the cop kept sayin since it is their address like its the road they live on were not allowed to ride but thats bullshit i think and my boys dad said in the deed to his house it says he can come and go as he pleases on it, i'm just wondering if anybody has any law experience and can tell me the real answer

yeah it sounds to me like that cop was a little out of line and your buddy lives on a private road which you should be allowed to ride on, but of coarse every states laws are different.

well if the cops catch me riding anywhere except my own yard they take quads and impound em. thats y we dont stop for cops in jersey. we make a hard turn, down shift, and clutch dump. and they get a WHOLE LOTTA ROOST!

Yea well there is no where to go except the road or go directly back up the lane to my friends house and id b trapped and on the road thered b nowhere to go so i couldnt lose him n he new where we lived so...

yeah, i'd call the county and ask them, and i was always under the assumption that if it was dirt it is fair game, and lots of lane's and little dirt roads got names and street signs because of the 911 centers, so the emt's and such knew where to go, and also if the state, county, township/borough doesnt maintain it, then its legal to ride, if they make you stop riding on it, then i'd make their asses fix the potholes and plow it in the winter

sounds like the cop is wrong to me, essentially that lane is your friends big long driveway. last time i checked you can ride in your own driveway.

is his the only house on that lane, or is the guy who called the poe poe, on it too, if your freinds house is the only one on it, put a locked chain across it, while you ride

if its your friends dads property then you can do whatever you want on it
if however the neighbour shares the driveway you'll need permission from him/her to drive aswell

No its not his property and there is other people that live there but they are ok with us riding its a guy across the street from the bottom of the lane that called the cops but still my friends dad said he called the township and asked them about it and they said since it is an access to multiple houses from a main road its considered a road, so he freaked on them and said they didn't plow it or anything so now they have to plow it and do everything for it like fixingpotholes and such but were not allowed to ride there now so... its bullshit

Just ride there anyway and when the cops show up just deny the whole thing. I was riding my friends 700xx over at his house, just up and down his road. (which has many houses on it) And one of the guys that lives on his road called the cops on us. well next time I was over there we had it out again just warming it up. As we were loading it on the trailer a sheriff showed up. I guess last time the guy had taken pictures of me ripping it up the road. The cop asked if I had been riding on the road. I said nope. he said I have pictures that say otherwise. I said oh really? He showed me the pictures (had an excellent drift going on). I said nope not me. He said it looks just like you to me. I said he is a pretty handsome fellow isn't he, but its still not me. The cop then pointed out that he was wearing the same hoodie I was wearing at the time. So I said, so what he's handsome and has good taste. At this point the cop was laughing out loud. I then told him I was in a hurry and had to get finished loading up but if we seen the suspect we would call him. He then admitted that he couldn't do anything unless he caught us in the act, because it was really just the neighbors word (and a picture of a really handsome guy) against ours.
