jetting help 28mm pwk...

Man that makes no sense. Ok sorry lets start from the begining, Motor is air tight, Are you running stock air box and filter? Plug is a B8ES, Ported motor?, stock reed cage? , Compression reading is? Head modded?, oil injection? , stroker crank? Sorry We had to miss something!

ok, fresh top end, compression is 165, hold 7psi all night, no airbox lid, new maxima pro flo filter, no head mods, no porting, fmf fatty system. runs good with the stock mikuni at 270 main, 32.5 pilot. i started jetting the pwk from 160 down to 120. the whole time the wot bog got less and less. right now its barely noticable but its still rich because of what the plug shows on the wot pass i made today. it idles good, 45 pilot 2 turns out. revs up quick and has ALOT of power, until wot. the only thing thats frustrating is the f*ckin needle. its a ktm n5hg and thats ALL i can find out. no specs on taper or diameter or nothing. the carb came off a 2010 ktm 85sx with a 118 main and 45 pilot. and that needle. so i think the taper is way off with a bigger main, too much fuel, i dont know slicker, im pulling my hair out on this one and i aint got too much left to be doing that sh*t!!! lol any thoughts??????
oh yeah, mixed gas 32.1 castor, b8es plug, boyeson duel stage reeds, stock cage.

Let me see if i still have my spare needles... I'll pm you tomorrow! I may have a jj? That has to be the factor!

Just had another look at the pic of the plug.

Is it fuel wet or oil wet?

I don't recall you saying you did a leak down test.

If you have a small leak from the gear crank seal, and it is bogging at WOT, it could be gear oil that is wetting the plug.

Good question, it's both. Oil fouled, gas soaked. Yes, passed leak down with an a+. As far as gear oil? Never run the stuff accept in my truck. ATF type f always. And all the seals are new. I think it's the bloody stock ktm needle causing my over rich condition. Slicker n I were talking about it last night. I think the taper or length is wacky for a bigger main jet. The pwk came off a stock 2010 ktm 85sx with a 118 main. Now, how the hell is that needle gonna work with a 150 jet? That's what I think is the issue. I'm waiting to hear back from slickerthanyou about the jjh needle info.

Number 34, there is a needle jet in that sucker.

Is that maybee where the problem is?

ok, thats the same or similar view i saw. but, when i pulled the pwk apart, i saw the needle jet attached to the needle holder. i dont see any specific sizing difference in the needle jet though. not like you see with the needles and mains and pilots.

Would you like to borrow my spare 35MM Mikuni TDXX D slide carb or are you happy with the PWK?

Said jokingly with tongue in cheek.
ill tell ya this, i took off a good running mikuni stock 26mm to put this PITA on. the mikuni starts first or second kick, runs good, jetting is perfect. (plug chop confirmed!) the minute i started it with the pwk it bogged Horrible! (remember, i started with a 160 main!) i got it down to this 120 main before i actually went for Any sort of ride. against my better judgement, i wanted to get a plug chop with the 120 to see what it was doing. all i can say is; WoW! I WANT IT TO WORK SOOOO BAD! its has a ton of power! so much so over the stock that im pulling my hair out trying to find out what i can do to KEEP IT! im really hoping to get the bugs worked outta this thing. i do appreciate the offer though, lol!

Hey bro, the needle I have is a DEK! Your more than welcome to try it. I can't remember if that from the 30mm i had or the 35 pwk?

slicker, thats awesome bro, the offer is more than appreciated, i just needed some info on what the sizing is. youre running a 30mm oko right? what needle do you run right now? thats what i need, someone to say 'hey, im running a 28mm keihin with 155 main and a so n so pilot, my needle is a ???-????' cause if i go to my local shop, i gotta tell em something to start me off. the number on my needle n5hg only comes up a ktm number. nothing to cross to a keihin oem number. it sucks balls. so, for all you guys that are running 28mm keihin pwks; WHAT IS THE G*D DAM* NEEDLE NUMBER YOURE RUNNING??? lol
ps, the dek is a 35mm needle.

Stock needle in the 30mm is N80F, I am running (gonna run a 33pwk) with the new build.

Sudco says stock 28MM needle is N427-46JJH to be exact brutha!

i say that dek is gonna be the ticket

on my 34pj, whatever stock needle (k**) was in it drove me nuts for weeks
one call to here.......Carburetor Parts Warehouse

and dude set me straight with the "dgh" needle
problem solved, some are also using the "cel" needle
correct needle is the key to these kehiens
give that dude a call at carb parts, he'll steer ya straight

ill kill two birds with one stone, ill call carb parts warehouse, talk to their tech, see what he says and ill go with his recommendation. THEN, ill buy the N427-46jjh just to cover all my options. Thanks guys for the tag team effort! i really like the way this thing runs with the pwk, i just want it to work proper.

My 28 oko has jjh needle in it. Seems to be good match for my Blaster. Fairly stock aftrmarket exhaust and uni filter for modes.

Keihin carbs use just one size for there emulsion tubes, Mikuni's have many but fewer needle selections than the keihin carb.
hope this help ya.
