Okay so I rebuilt my top end. I got it all together and it wouldnt start. So I had my friend pull me going slow and started right up. I drove the quad about 50 feet going slow back to the barn. I hadnt really known anything about heat cylcles. The guy that rebuilt it said 1st tank of gas go about have throttle no sudden gas. So I just cruised about 50% no high reving. He said 2nd tank give it more gas but dont hold it down. Then 3rd tank ride it olike you stole it. So right now I am still on the first tank of gas. I ride for 15 min and let it cool for 30. BUT I didnt do any heat cylces. Do you think I will be okay? Or is it ruined?

it should be fine but why wouldnt it start? does it start now and did u happen to do a compression test??

This guy in xenia rebuilt in for me. He used cometic gaskets wich he said are the best and he sprayed every seal with this stuff so it seals better. And he said the compression was good no loeaks. It started 3rd kick but after that it wouldnt so i pull started it. It runs good. AND also i have a 320 main jet, is that too big? If so How do i jet it properly

Do a compression test.

who is the guy that rebuilt it?Is he a qualified tech? Was this done at a shop?

Im curious because anyone worth his tools as a tech would know to do a proper break in and so on.

You may have got lucky and did no damage but do a compression test asap.

i assume you have a stock carb? stock main jet is 230 and most guys with a aftermarket exhaust run around a 290 so yeah thats one big ass jet lol. just look up "plug chops" and you will find all the info you need

What mods do you have?If this is a stock blaster no a 320 is ridiculous and probably wouldnt run but if it did it would be a biotch to start.

List what mods you have as we speak and then do a search here on plug chops theyre youre new friend while you own and operate 2 strokes bro.

Idk how to do a compression test. I know this guy he is qualified. He sent it to a guy in florida to get it bored. It had no leaks when he gave it back. Hes been doing this for 10 years. I trust him. All I need to know is if not doing heat cycles but running it very easy is okay?

It has a pro circuit exhaust, oil block off, no airbox lid, boyeson reeds, Im not sure I think thats it. I run klotz oil?

So you want us to tell you if you got problems from not doing a proper break in and diagnose this over the net?SERIOUSLY?

Ok first of all your "GUY" sounds like an idiot if he didnt tell you what to do or dont do when you got it back.In fact all engines i build for people i build and run them in myself so i know that when they get it back ive got it in 100% perfect operating order so i question your guy.

Second theres no way for us to tell you for sure if it did any damage. We can however tell you that yes it can cause issues whether it has for you or not is unknown until you do a compression test.

Its a simple as screw in the tester turn off your ignition hold the throttle wide open and kick until the gauge stops.Should be 120psi minimum.

The guy told me how to do it. He said 1st tank easy half throttle, second tank no full throttle, and 3rd tank ride it like i stole it. He mentioned he cycles but I didnt know what he was talking about. Ive only rode it for prolly 45 min on the new motor, Could I do heat cycles now? I have not rode it hard at all so I think it should be okay

START WITH A COMPRESSION TEST!!!

Next time if a builder tells you a set of guidelines follow them and if you dont understand them ask as many questions as it takes to fully understand whats going on.

Okay is the spark plug 14mm? And Itll prolly be okay right? I only skipped starting it up. I rode nice and easy and some people just ride it for 30 min slow and get on it and theres is fine. So I should be good I think.

Stop!!! Before you open ANOTHER thread with the SAME questions, give it a few. This is a Forum, not a Chat room. People Will answer just give it a little while.

I would start doing your heat cycles now. Simple as that. Best way to know for certain it's been done. Just make sure you read how to do it properly.

It is only recently that the heatcycling proceedure has entered onto the break in scene.

Prior to heatcycling, the proceedure for break in was to ride a tank or 2 at no more than 3/4 throttle.

Heat cycling offers a softer start to break in by allowing the rings to bed in positivily and to condition the new gaskets.

I feel that you may not have done any damage to the motor, if you have only ridden like you have stated.

Do a couple of heat cycles and then retension the head and jug bolts. Then ride it at no more than 3/4 throttle for a tank or two.
