The blasty has been sitting since late November, 3/4 tank of fuel/oil mix. I did fire it up in December when I put a new needle in but....With the promise of warmer weather ahead I need to once again check the jetting and go for a rip!

Do you think I should dump the gas and use fresh or shake it up real good and it will be ok to run it through. I hate to waste the liquid gold but It would be better than replacing parts (again).

I did tear the carb apart and clean and check it looks great so, i just would like some professional opinions before it tear up the trails...

Thanks!

just pour some of the stabil red sh*t in it, fill the rest with new gas and oil and shake well. shouldn't be a problem.

BEFORE shaking up the tank or topping it off with mixed gas, I'd remove the fuel line from the nipple on the carb and turn the fuel valve to 'reserve'. Let it drain for a few seconds, until you see mixed gas coming out of the line.

Remember, water is heavier than gas and it will sink to the bottom of the tank. Drain off any accumulated water, hook the fuel line back up, and you should be OK. "Should be". Use your judgement; I've seen what stale gas can do to carburetors and engines. Personally, I'd just forestall any future headaches and drain the tank, but that's on my quad. My .02

a few drops of seafoam for good measure and then top it off with fresh and rock out. I've been starting mine up every week or so all through winter just to keep gas from sitting in the bowl. I'm gonna go start it up here in about two minutes and ride it around the yard just to turn some of that gas over.

If I experience any problems, I'll stop and drain the tank. easy peasy!

You can run it.......just shake up the mixture in the tank. Personally I just rock my blaster back and forth on 2 wheels while I'm on it since it's so light.

Next winter, do what Sheeblast said if you have gas left over in the tank. Put some Sta-bil in before you store it for long period and this helps to combat the gumminess of old gas.

If you're worried about your engine just put a little more 2 stroke oil in the gas and that should help it out.

I would never do this!

Yes! I actually did this already, when I took the carb off to check it.

My initial though....

dont run old gas
as fuel sits it lowers in octane.
running to low of octane fuel can cause detonation and damage or destroy your engine

Ya think a few months of sitting will hurt that much?

I was thinking of that wasn't sure that would be good for the motor. I do it with the mower and chit But I have a sh*t load invested in this blasty.

Seafoam, I have used this stuff on my cars/trucks, Wasn't sure this would mix with the fuel mix...

After a month w/o stabilizer the fuel will break down (race gas does this quite fast). I would dump the tank personally. If you dont want to waste the gas just put it in a separate tank and run it through a lawn mower, thats what we did with the race gas that sat here after my knee injury. lets just say I enjoyed mowing just for the smell for a while there, lol.

That's what Sta-bil helps combat when you put a vehicle/quad/motorcycle into storage. A lot of metal tanked motorcycles are stored with gas because it helps combats having a dry tank and possibly rusting from the inside out. You put Sta-bil in to delay the onset of breakdown, octane drop, and the all around gumminess you get with old gas.

As a side note, you know gas prices are too high when we are making topics about a couple gallons of gas. :D

I know what stabil is and does ;) I use it when i store my snowmobiles. I generally dont use it for my Blaster fuel since i usually go through it before it breaks down (this last can was an exception, couldnt ride for over a month).

both of mine have been sittiing since november also,
they will both be drained, tanks pulled and flushed, and carbs cleaned.
takin no chances here, that $10 worth of possibly tainted fuel ain't worth shizzle compared to possible melt downs
