Ididdy's rebuild

Started stripping the powder coat off the frame yesterday. So far this is what I have been able to get off LOL

I have been using methylene chloride paint stripper so far and as you can see I have been having mediocre results with two passes so far.

I put in a couple parts orders today. :) I ordered a gusset kit from terantula. I was going to ask my father in law to cut some up for me but I think these will look a lot cleaner. I put another order in to rocky mountain for a 118 link DID x-ring chain, 42 tooth steel sprocket, and some random bolts/lugnuts.

Alrighty, some progress today. We got the 465 out and stripped down the old frame.

And we got the new frame up on the bench.

And here's my parts engine. Nice to have spare parts :)

We got some more done today. Instead of drilling through the frame and installing sleeves we decided to weld a plate in and bolt mounts to the plate that way the frame stays intact and I still get bolted on mounts and the engine will go in and out a lot easier. We got some gussets tacked in there too. For the exhaust we have decided to split the exhaust so with the silencer, it will be a 3 piece exhaust with couplers in between.

I got some new bearings in my carrier, installed a grease fitting and painted her up.

Slowly but surely its coming together.

Looking good so far, really like the metal flake grey.

Thanks for the kind words. When I get new plastics I want to have them painted the same color. I'm thinking the dark gray metallic on the swingarm/carrier, and plastics and a yamahaish blue on the frame. How do you guys think that color combo would look?

Haven't updated in a few weeks. Here is what has gotten done.

We got the exhaust fabbed up. It's the stock blaster pipe / stock it465 pipe. I know it's not going to run correctly with the exhaust the way it is but I was running low on cash and we wanted to learn on the crappy old pipe before we start hacking up a $250 pipe. Ohh and that is a silencer for a 2002 cr250 ;)

Frame freshly sandblasted. We didnt have time to get the rear gussets in but at least we got the front. This coming winter we are going to do that before powder coat time!!

Looking Good ! Like the Blue Frame allot , I Think White Rear Plastics Would make that Blue on frame Stand out allot More !

Thanks! I am getting it powder coated this winter and want to do it in blue so I painted it blue to see what it would look like. I'm not totally set on it but I think dark gray plastics would look great with the blue. You are right though, white plastics would make the frame stand out a lot more.

Wow man. This build is looking sweet! You deserve some rep. Those motor mount welds look awesome!
Thanks!! My father in law is a really good welder. He welds stainless steel all day in a fab shop.

Thanks man. Notice I got that awesome gsxr brake on there? :)
Wow Looking awesome!!!!
Thanks for the kind words.

I have been tinkering around with it tonight. I got the exhaust hung up and now its time to get the steering stem installed, get the wiring harness situated and installed, and break some links out of my 118 link x-ring.
