lol i broke another part on my blaster and i dont even abuse the damn thing just ride it anywho.
i was riding it home one day and i cant remember what gear i was in (prolly third or fourth) and just cruising and i hear two loudish clunk sounds and then the tranny starts acting up like first is a pain to get into second is easy neutral is SUPER easy to find its like seconds good and 5th and 6th are good in a weird sort of way.
well i gt it apart today and to my suprize i broke the shifter drum shaft were the keyway is at so no keyway spot anymore...
i am curious if this happened because of something else????
how would i fix this i am almost certian im ganna have to tear the motor down :(:(:(

i heard of welding the shift star in place as well. I think that should work and no, i dont think that you should have to tare down the motor...unless there is a way that metal could have got into your bottom end. The only think is I would make sure that all of the metal is out of that clutch side.

hmm well there connected, but the oil has to pass through realitivly small passages so with a fluid flush you could probably get anything in there out. but id say get it welded on.

at the moment it doesnt look like that things going anywhere. before yamy started welding them on, they had the keyway and it was comon to weld them. just get your local shop to weld er on. i cant tell by the pic how much is done to it, but it might be salvagable. if not you need a new shift drum.

I have the same exact problem right now. Keyway slot broken right off:(

this is a big problem with older blasters,i think in 03 they made the shift star and drum together to avoid the problem. You can always weld the shiftstar onto the drum but youll have to pull the drum out to be safe.
