Hauling gas tank? Gas on the trail?

i actually made a saweet spare tank outta a fire extinguisher housing, its aluminum and very light.... iwas gonna bolt on where the oil tank went, kinda gives it a dual exhaust look

I saw a guy on the trail with an aftermarket high capacity fuel tank on his blaster. I forget what the brand was....he told me but it's the same company IIRC that make high capacity tanks for dirt bikes. It was translucent so you could see how much gas was in it, and he had made marks with a sharpie indicating gallonage.

I'm sure the tanks aren't cheap though....

IMS 4 gallon desert tank. like $200 bones

hell yeahh if i had one layingaround id put it one tooo but im not gonna pay 50 bux for some plastic lol. i was thinking about makeing one somehow mabe outta aluminum so i can polish it

heeeell no i wouldnt pay 50 beans for it either, i see em on egay for $10ish every now and then. something metal and shiny would be nice. that trunk actually says yamaha across it so it fits good lol

i have a suggestion that only idiots like me would try, get a back pack, get a 64 ounce gatorade, drink the gatorade, then fill it up with your premix. stick it into the bookbag.

Would be a bit uncomfotable but still a nice way to haul gas and it will mix itself while riding lol

That would suck if it started leaking!!! Especially because as it heats up being on your back, the gas will expand. The aluminum or SS fuel bottles for camp fuel would be much better for throwing in a back pack.

I used to re-use those little ~4oz bottles of chainsaw pre-mix and carry those around on my KDX. I'd pull right up to the pump, dump in my oil, pump the exactly one (or two) gallons, then shake the bike around to get it to mix. Actually, I'd try to get a little gas into the oil bottle to get all of the oil out. Never blew up the KDX!!

to many people are worried about the injection failing, its better to mix because you at least have a sense of securtiy because you know its getting oil
