Hey guys, as some of you know I just recently got my cylinder ported & head cut... My question to you's is there any way I can damage my engine since I'm still running the stock carb and didn't re-jet either? It has a good amount of smoke coming out the back so I don't think it's running lean. I gotta do a plug chop just to be sure on that one though... My main concern is not damaging anything, I'm getting a new carb soon but I don't wanna stop riding until then! What do ya think?

You can run a ported cylinder and rechambered head on a stock carb but you will need to rejet (or at least plug chop to confirm)

Did you do a leakdown test when you put that top end on? it shouldn't be smoking heavily it should just be doing a little puffing while you're accelerating.

Honestly no I didn't do a leak down test, an it's just the right amount of exhaust smoke, it's not like big clouds pooring out when Im accelerating. The reason I say it runs rich is cause I add a little oil to my gas since I foolishly still have the oil injection on it... I know I know! I'm changing that very soon too so don't bust my balls about it lol.

Block off that oil injection if you are going to premix the gas. And by "just the right amount of smoke" is it smoking a little and is there a slight blue hue to the smoke? Or is there some smoke that is noticeably grey or white? I have fried a blasty motor by unknowingly running it lean. I thought it was rich from the bogging and smoking, but nope, waaaay lean. Seized pistons suck by the way!!!

You do realize that by adding oil to your gas and still running the injection youre running it lean by adding the extra oil.Think about it when the motor gulps in the a/f mixture if theres more oil to less gas thats lean and not good.

Youre on borrowed time not checking into your jetting.

Do not ride again until you have re jetted as you most certainly will be running lean and can cause damage.

By adding extra oil you have leaned the mix out even more, as stated more oil less fuel hence leaner mix.

Please post all known mods so some one can put you in the jetting ball park before you do the required plug chops with a B8ES plug.

Play it safe and also do a leak down test.

It is fine to use oil injection which is roughly 20:1, or pre mix at 32:1, but not both, the engine will starve for fuel.

if you have your blaster jetted right, you shouldnt hardly smoke at all. when i had my blaster, it would only smoke when it was cold. once it warmed up, almost no smoke at all. delete your injection and do a leakdown test/plug chop

It was bluish, before but now I add a tiny bit into my tank it's grey. When I'm idling in neutral it's light blue but once I start to give it some gas it turns more gray but not like really thick. I don't wanna foul a plug but I guess it would be better then seizing my motor!

And okay thanks guys! I was kinda under the impression that by adding more oil to the tank while using the injection it would run my gas richer, reducing my chances of seizing up my motor. I was sorta thinking more oil in my fuel means it gets more lubrication ya know?... Guess it shows how much I know haha.

So even though I'm running rich on fuel/oil ratio I can still mess things up with my poor air/fuel ratio? Did I get that correct? I wish I checked back on this thread before I went riding earlier, luckily I was on for about 45 minutes and not real hard either.

Yes youre correct and youre also on borrowed time since you keep riding it without adressing the obvious issues.Swapping the main takes literally 5 mins. You loosen two hose clamps,4 float bowl screws and ur there.Take a 6mm wrench or socket in 1/4 drive and swap jets then reverse your steps.

Is your engine worth 5-10 mins of your time to have it running the way it should and last?

If not Good luck bro post pics of the carnage when/if it blowes.

Running with more oil in the mix leans out the fuel/air mixture and can cause detonation which will fry the piston and wreck the top end, maybe more.

Of course the motor will give the impression that it is happy by producing the correct amount of smoke, fooling the uneducated into thinking all is well.

No amount of lubrication will stop the motor siezing when detonation occurs from a too lean fuel/air mix.

One must run the recommended fuel/oil ratio 32:1 unless the oil maker calls for different ratio.

On must run the correct jetting to suit the motor mods and do plug chops with the correct heat range plug B8ES.

There are no short cuts, and you gotta get right or pay the dollars for repairs.

Geez your really taking this to heart man! I clearly don't have a great knowledge of the carberature's mechanics, so no I'm not ignoring any issues I'm just in the process of learning how things work. But no prob man I'll take plenty of pics when it explodes lol. Thank's for the concern though...

Ya I get what your saying, makes sense to me! Hopefully I can get around to it this Sunday. I gotta get new jets though so I'm not exactly sure when Ill have the time to get em since my license is suspended right now, maybe I'll check eBay out (any recommendations as to what I should run?) and also I was reading about the "free" injection block off in the DIY section, seems pretty simple too so while I'm at it I might as well get that done too... Prob shoulda been the first mod I even considered. I know I was kinda playing with fire on that matte (coulda been bad but luckily it's held out so far) I'm def not riding until I address these issues though... Maybe I can take some pics or even a video since people were asking for them on the injection elimination subject
