New blaster just took a dump. Figured it needed a top end which it does but I noticed that there is some discoloration on the crank or counterweight. Whatever the exact name for it is beyond me. The crank rotates fine and does not have any excess play/movement in the rod. I have not rebuilt a bunch of two strokes so I do not know if this is common.

Should it be replaced or is it still good for a while. This quad will be ridden on trails and not raced.

looks good, but is there any vertical motion in the bearing? how much side to side motion is there?

the flywheels are fine, like sheeblast said you should check the up and down and side to side play, get yourself a feeler guage to chekc your side to side clearance. There should be no movement up and down

I will double check but there is no vertical movement in the rod or crank assembly. I do not know exactly how much horizontal movement but it has very little. I will check with my feeler gauges.

Once you do the block off, make sure you dont use the same oil, it must be a premix oil. I use Spectro Sx2 at 32:1 (4oz/gallon). It is pretty inexpensive and alot of my buds that race, claim the stuff is like magic. It doesnt smell bad at all. Once you go to buy a new piston, make sure the machine specify's a specific overbore piston, once they tell you to buy that size, get online or your nearest Cycle Center and order either a Wiseco or Vertex piston. All the other pistons out there are cast, even though Vertex is as well, I've had good luck with the Vertex so far....Your damn lucky that the stock piston didn't shatter into pieces.... Order new gaskets, buy the leak down tester from "Holeshotman" on here and make sure your gaskets arent leaking, if they are, apply a little Yamabond or Hondabond...I wont ever use the Permatex stuff ever again, its junk (IMO). It should be putting out around 125-135 if its pretty much stock bore and head..If you decide to port it out, send it to Ken O'Connor racing and he can tell you what all you need. If you need any other info, just contact any of us members and we can help ya out! Sucks to see someone's machine is broke down!! Have a good day!!

I already ordered a weisco piston kit. I sent the cylinder off to summit motorsports in florida to be rehoned and he will measure/match the piston to the correct bore size. I like the wiseco over stock because it isnt cast and it seems to be a little bit lighter weight.
The bike will be a trail bike so I dont really need any porting or anything like that. Once its back together and I build up a few more dollars i'll get a pipe kit and jet it accordingly.
I still need to drain the fuel tank which will be simple enough since its not on the bike. I have a atc250r that I ride so I already have plenty of premix. I mix at 32:1 for it and that will be sufficient for the blaster

I imagine you run Pro Honda Hp2 then? Stuff is great, just out of my price range for mixing up 5 gallons, the Spectro stuff is about a dollar cheaper and saves me quite a bit...

I do not have a favorite brand or specific oil that I use for mixing fuel. I usually grab a jug of whatever is on the shelf at the honda place I get my parts from..

I do use Hondabond for all my automotive sealant needs that is some good stuff. I still have a half tube on hand for in case I need it when I do the air leak test.
That stuff is expensive but its far better than rtv at retail part stores.
I hear the toyota stuff is good too.

I use Hondabond on everything that has a leak! ha, once i did it on my Dk Six Pack BMX bike tire innertube and it held up for about a week or two. Don't switch back in forth between oils though, try to stick to one specific brand.

the reason they are blue there, is the flywheels are heated before
the crank pins are pushed in, this expandes the steel of the wheels,
allowing the pin to be pressed in with much less effort
