Blaster For Predator 500???

Hey well someone offered me a 03 Polaris Predator 500 that doesn't run he says the timing is off for my 98 blaster all stock except 20 over bore i was just wondering if you guys think it would be worth it and if i could adjust the timing my self it is a clean quad not the best but decent sorry i don't have any pics let me know what you think

i think....there is more wrong than the timing, chances the timing is off BECAUSE the timing chain snapped, or it dropped a valve or the gasket is gone...there will be more wrong with that.

nobody would offer that trade in their right mind. the bikes are of different value. that should tell you something.

Actually its probably and even trade because the polaris most likely needs a complete topend if not more. I guarentee its not just a simple timeing issue, thats BS. If you have the money to do a complete topend then go for it, if not stay away.

Far as i know there is no timeing adjustment on that motor. Its a fixed position.

Yes you can adjust the tension and postion of the chain on the Preddy's. Not hard to do either.

It could be a number of top end issues, like was said, unless you can afford a new top end, don't do it.

They have self adjusting cam chain tensioners on them and you have to tear down to reposition a jumped chain, no easy to it.

timing doesnt just get off...chain jumps or some thing broke...if the chain jumps there goes the valves and piston and other damage $$$$

and the question isnt "how much can i make" but "how long will the parts lay on ebay or craigslist before they sale"
parting out isnt always as quick and easy as it is on here with blasters
