i'm sure you guys can appreciate a classic. it's the Blackwater series races that used to take place back in the day. lots of old school quads and dirtbikes. saw a few blasters as well.

Part 1 Blackwater 100

Part 2 Blackwater 100

enjoy!

Great footage!

Damn.....there must have been more spectator injuries than rider injuries. Crazy.

these vids clearly prove that nobody gave a sh*t about safety for spectators or riders in the 80's lol. look at that hill climb in the 2nd vid, while its probably less than a 15 foot elevation hillclimb its got 2 rediculously huge rocks with a nice trench between them perfect for getting your rear tires stuck in, its a recipe for rolling the quad back on top of you.

and in almost every video the bikes / quads tank through at least 3 feet of water, one guys honda fell on its side and the only part of the bike you could see was the end of his handlebar the rest was completely submerged.

these races were probably a great way to get mud inside every moving part of your bike and fill your exhaust with water lol.

i also love how the spectators disregard their own safety to help riders get over hillclimbs and stuff, you figure the track designers would realise the track is a little too nuts when nobody makes it up the small hills even WITH the entire crowd grabbing and the bike and helping pull them up the hills rofl. its a team effort to make sure nobody gets hurt and it looks like it backfired.

don't forget that this was in the early days of atv's (not dirtbikes) and not many of those riders knew what they were capable of. you can tell by the way they were riding in any of the terrain.

This is crazy. Damn I'd love to have been there to give it a try, despite the danger. Hahaha, third video: Quads? Check. Crazy crowd? Check. Next-to impossible terrain? Check. Got your Beer? Check. Now we've got a show!

I guess you have never seen the Ironman GNCC then. Its not as rough as the blackwater 100 was overall but the hillclimb causes people to tumble every year. And the crowd is there to help. Look it up on youtube. There are plenty of videos out there.

I stumbled across these vids a few weeks ago on youtube searching quad races lol. I was entertained. even my son watched it. the bikes had power but not much else helping them. and they are mostly 2 strokes. so I mean, from a stop at the water, you don't have much room for a hillclimb on most of them.. specially with people in your way lol.

as for track designers, if you think those tracks were designed and built you're probably confused lol. I'd wager they were trails made by riding thru the area over and over. I seriously doubt that any of that was made by equipment or even shovels. natural terrain tore up by crazy riders is what it looks like to me :D awesome! LOL. we have places people ride stupid here. natural formations turned into trails over time from people taking dirtbikes, quads and other things thru them over the years. and some of the stuff, you look at it and wonder what kinda crazy sob it takes to even attempt it... let alone who's actually MADE it :D

Just FYI, Blackwater and the events like it are meant to be stupid. It's a no holds barred event and if you are the guy that decides not to jump in and beat the guy that "makes it", you are shunned as a pussy. There are plenty of white trash people with nothing to lose that will go to any length to put their face on the map at events like those. Totaling a quad or breaking bones are non-existent to those people. The only object is making it at all costs.
