Hey people,

I'm trying to put a Banshee axle on my '00 Blaster with an '03 carrier so I can mount the Banshee hydraulic brakes cleanly. Anyway, I've got the axle in the carrier and went to tighten up the axle nuts but they hit the splines on the axle before they snugged up against the chain sprocket. I've got nearly a 1mm gap to close. Has anyone with a Banshee axle had this problem? Any suggestions on what to do about it?

You can check out the pics on my rebuild thread:

just making sure, you have a shee brake hub, or a 03+ blaster brake hub right? if not that could be your problem

*DAMN IT 245!

All great questions guys. I should've mentioned them. Both the sprocket and brake hub are Banshee and yes the spacer is in there between the bearings. The carrier is used from a member on here and the bearings are a little rough but not too bad for me to put a couple of hours on them before I tear it back down for the paint.

Do you have the stock blaster sprocket hub? id throw that on there for sh*ts and gigs i didnt use a shee sprocket hub with my swap. Im not sure but they may be different

the sprocket hubs are the same part number for the banshee and the blaster, so that shouldn't be it. this is a little strange

is the spacer still in the middle of the carrier?

i had 0 issues with mine....

This is a big help Brandon. Just knowing that your swap went together smoothly tells me that the Banshee axle should work with the '03 Blaster carrier, so something has got to be off. The hubs are clean, and the splines are tight. They've got a very small amount of play, but less than what I've seen. The spacer between the bearings (inside the carrier) is there. The bearings spin fair but will be replaced (i'm only trying to run with them until I test run my frame and brake mods. Then I'll be ripping it all back down for powder (i don't want to redo the bearings and then have to replace them again just b/c of the PC job). I just can't believe the spacer or inner bearing walls have become compressed. Is that even possible ?!?! There isn't anything else, is there?

Lets see some pics to help us out a bit.I will say I have done several shee axle swaps from 03-06 carriers,88-02 carriers and shee carriers.I did have one problem one time that the spacer in the center of the carrier(inbetween bearings) was a 1/4 inch shorter.I swapped that out and all tightening problems went away. Not sure why cause shee and blaster spacers are the same length.Maybe take a measurement on the spacer and get back to us.I have an 03 carrier ready to go in my garage,I can pull a measurement off of that if need be.

Hey Dualstroak, big thanks! Link was on the first post to this thread (easy to miss)

This info is HUGE! big thanks! Getting the measurement though will be difficult right now though 'cause I'm trying to assemble the thing using the existing bearings and spacer. Would have to get a bearing out to get an accurate measurement on the the spacer. If I do that, I'll have to put new bearings in to test-run with. I don't wanna pay for them twice since I'll be tearing down to powder coat once everything else checks out. I may be able to get the spacer off-center enough to take a measurement though. I'll try on Saturday. In the mean time, can you get a measurement for me to compare to? Thanks again!
