Banshee Axle Problem

I just bought a durablue axle for a banshee to widen my blaster and when I tighten the axle nut just by hand it causes the axle to not want to rotate freely. I have a banshee brake hub on so that shouldn't be the problem. My question is what could be causing this?
The only idea I have is that the sprocket hub is worn and not as long on the axle shaft as it should be, and that its possibly hitting the carrier before it seats against the bearing inside. I didn't get much time to mess with it and I am away till the weekend but wondered if anyone had experienced similar problems before?

Thanks in advance.

why the fug would you buy an aftermarket banshee axle for a blaster
all aftermarket BLASTER AXLES make it wider

To make it REALLY wide in the rear? He hates riding in the woods? He has +8 a-arms? Maybe he got a good deal on it? I'd run a dureblue banshee axle if I got it for $10... Just run the hubs backwards to narrow it some and rock on

but apparently it didn't, or doesn't work ???????

The axle itself fits fine, the problem is either a worn down brake or sprocket hub. Whether its a stock blaster axle on it or this axle its going to have the same problem when I try to tighten it. I just don't know how to check to see if the either hub is worn down and causing the problem.

sounds like the opposite should be true, too long of a hub should bind it up, not worn/too short ??????

The hubs both have a section which goes through the seals and sits against the bearing. If that section is shorter than normal then it would allow the hubs to slide up against the carrier before the inside section contacts the bearings.

The hubs are identical from the banshee to blaster, besides the pre-02 floating brake hub. I checked the part numbers to see if that could be the problem but both have the same exact part regardless of whether its on the banshee or blaster.

Your setup should work with no problems.a shee axle,a shee brake hub and all of your other blaster parts will interchange. The blasters rotor, sprocket hub,etc is all interchangeable. One thing to check out is I know g-force uses some spacers/collars to line up perfect, maybe you didn't get any with the durablue? Not sure if durablue uses them but worth the call to find out.Either way your setup should work with no problems and it doesn't matter if it is for a shee or a blaster all are the same.

Thanks for the ideas, I'll check and see whether the durablue uses spacers and also check the shim inside. Should the shim be seated against both bearings or what are the specs on the proper length ?

i just put one in a few weeks ago, wasw also a little tight but i just tapped the end of the axle (with a nut on the ends as to not hurt the thread) with a block of wood and a hammer while getting someone to hold down the carrier, didnt take much, its like it seated itself. dont be violent, just gentle knocks as not to put strain on the bearings.

Did u have to tap it from the sprocket or brake side? Also, was there a collar with the axle that goes on it somewhere? I looked on durablue's website and a collar is listed but it doesn't tell where it goes.

i believe it was the sprocket side. i had to get the durablue collar that tightens up agaisnt the sprocket...its in place of those two big nuts on a blaster, its a billet aluminium thing. i also needed the banshe brake hub and the locking ring. evrything lined up no problem, just had to modify my custom rear brake bracket but nothing serious.
