Another engine

how are you testing engine temps? are you running the blasty on a dyno or running it in the backyard?

i have tested mine after all kinds of riding, long rides, short rides, after a bunch of arm drop racing in the field, after a long ride up the road, middle of winter, middle of summer haha you name it lol I:I I:I.

I was actually talking with ken about safe operating temp with these bikes. I have noticed a burning oil smell from my engine when I run it hard in the dunes. He did however discover the right pipe can make the biggest changes in temp on your engine. I am really looking forward to test ken's new build on sunday. I will report back as soon as I open her up ;) !

/\/\/\/\ now i'm jeaulous, a trip to kens is a blast !!!!!!!!

Dave and I spent about five hours dialing in the carb today and I'm pretty happy with the results. We dropped 10 degrees over last week so we had to make a few changes. We went from a 30 to a 35 pilot and a 280 main to a 270. Picked up the needle one clip and that's the best it's going to get. After some hard runs the temp is running around 225 degrees on the head. I think I need to do some work with different needles. The low is good, the mid hits like a freakin freight train and the high is nasty. Still some hesitation between the mids and high but pull the clutch and hold on. The Blaster forum dudes from RI will be here tomorrow to give an independent review of this engine. I think they'll be very happy but there's more work to do.

Sooo Ken stuck me on this rocket ship he calls a 240 BB blaster and well the results are pretty intresting. I will give a full report later on gotta take my son trick or treating. Let's just say this quad is no longer an entry level quad and is a mid top monster and the game was rigged from the start!

i'd like a few snickers from the kids bag with the full report !!!!!!!

Well here's what I have to say about this engine build. I think Ken hit a home run with this engine the guy knows his stuff there is no doubt about it. I look forward to spending some more time with him at his shop learning all these slight yet important engine details. The Blaster build has some serious Mid to top end power and yet I do think ken might be able to pull a little more with the Carb I gave him. Ken took me to the local testing grounds where I did a couple laps around the circle track. It responded well and had plenty more to go. We then decided to run some drags on the straightaway. This is where the real ass Dyno started and I guess I pushed the envelope a little too far. The blaster build has amazing get up and go and It got the best of me and lets just say I owe ken a couple replacement pieces. It's late and I will give you more details tomorrow stay tuned !

pics or you're both lying !!!!!
and your gonna soon get my reputation, "awk breaks everything he rides" !!!!!
i even got a song sung about fry'in jess's bike, baaaaaaaaaahahahahaaaaa

Oh no awk I'm not that good his engine is fine. I just bent his wheels nerf and maybe the handlebars. I also broke off the brush guard. They still have your picture up in the shop with a sign that says warning engine killer in big letters and little letters underneath saying he will redline your engine and run straight gas. If you see this man shoot on sight per Ken o Conner.

Jayson, If that's in my shop, you put it there when I wasn't looking. I got a couple of pics but no vids. The wind really gets going out there and the sound on the vid sucks. I really wish I would have got Jaysons "stunt" on film. I'm just glad he's OK. I was standing about 150' away but saw the entire thing. I thought I was going to have to call him a chopper. Looked pretty bad from where I was. Must be great being that young where your bones still bend like Gumby. When I got over to him, he had some broken bike parts in his hand and kept on saying " don't worry...I'll pay for it'! Nothing to pay for in my eyes. All fixed yesterday.
