ok guys, got the 240 bb kit (la sleeve) and i want to get just a stock replacement crank. i hear alot of bad things about the wiseco kits, so i m looking for a alternative.

vito's? hot rods? any others?

i m just looking at putting a stock replacement crank in for now and then building a +3 or +4 stroker bottom end later on to get the bb kit ported.

thanks and any opinions wanted

not really worth it in my opinion...... ken gets $50 bucks to do the stock crank plus another $80 for a rod...... might as well get a new crank dont ya think?

no, because you'll leave with a better quality crank than if you buy one of the others

its between that and a hotrods, wouldn't do a vito's

i'd talk to ken about it. IMO the stocker rebuilt is going to be a better deal

i dont really want a stroker right now, all though i might go that way..... i have to talk to ken, but i know he really wanted me to do the +4 crank, and port the jug, so i m guessing that the trenching and porting would be $250 or so, and i could probably get away with using my 38mm keihin pwk that i have, and be most likely around 50hp, no?

maybe you guys are right......

yeah ken told me not to get that, that the +4 is better cause the big end is thicker.

with the la sleeve 240 kit, and a +4 with mild port job, will that be ok to use the 38mm carb i got, i have a few of them from my cr250 mini sprint engines, i thought i had some 36, but i dont......

i'm not overly impressed with the quality of my wiseco, at least the seals/gaskets and stuff that came with it. and the local mx shop said he's sold 2 of them to a guy by request for 125's in carts, and they pulled the rods in half in 2 laps....

a 38 will work but wont be very well suited for trail type riding as it will make more top end power thats why im gonna rubn 2 different carbs a 36 pwk a/s for trail and a 38 tmx mikuni on alchohol for racing

the fact that when a shop inspects them and the runout is out of spec when they're brand new doesn't exactly inspire confidence...

The Vito's +3 has a smaller big end on the rod. That's why you don't need to trench the cases. The +4 is the same size as stock. I'm not saying Vito's is bad. I just like the idea of a bigger rod.
