Hi all.
I recently tried a 14T front sprocket..

Even though i ran in very rough grass (requires alot of engine-energi) It feels
like some times it cant pull it out? I mean i really need to downshift. What i mean is several times i hold full throttle with no acceleration. . 3-4th gear i think.. This is also where i get nerveous by holding the throttle and no acceleration.. (I am in speed of corse) .. because is this not where the engine can get really warm?

This is even with me just installing a 34mm carb!?! :o (im still having some trouble making it run right, i think, wrong jet lid on etc.).

was i haveing a bad day??(rough grass) Or IS there a major difference in 13/14t?

Any other 14t users out there, who can maybe verify that this IS a heavy gearing.. or it is designed for VERY powerfull blasters.. OR ??

with a bigger front sproket (smaller rear sproket) it will take you low end power and put it all in the top end...and vise-versa with smaller front(bigger rear) with no top speed but aqll low end power...

Sorry Issek I don't want to hi Jack your tread but I also want to know what would most people prefer 13t or 14t, AND YES I KNOW THE HOLE THING ABOUT BIGGER IN FRONT GO"S FASTER..... Just need some good reply's on how it is "Better" or "not Worth it"

i like my 14 tooth, i find 3rd and 4th is my sweet spot where the wheeler really makes it power and rips good. you must "stay on the pipe" though or it will fall on its face. but when it comes time for some top end going down the road then the 14 really stands out. i can top end a raptor 350 with stock gearing pretty easily.

Hey LT..

I will try tomorrow to reverse back to 13T. and do some more testing...I will 100% have an WORTH IT OR NOT answer tomorrow. I´ll post results in this thread tomorrow..

SUPER NOOBER:

I knwo, but i wasnt looking for more topend.. only "longer" gears.. but i dont think the 14t is for me.. ill know tomorrow..

You´ll have to ride the powerband in a weird way with 14t. with the 13t it just fu**ing rips !!!

thanks man I realy want to know because I want to get a bit more top speed but don't want to loose much of my power because where we ride some times its long and strate and then you have to slow down for smaller tecnical stuff, (like you sead need a bit longer gearing that is all)

I have ran a 13t a 14t and I am currently running a 12t. It does make a difference. but weather or not its worth it depends on what you want to do with it. Tight trails and hills, I like the 12t. open trails and fields I like the 14t. The 12t also worked really well on the dunes, but I feel a 13t may have been better.

i like the 13 beacuse i do some crazy hillclimbs usually deep, soft sand and i dont think i could make it with a 14t. but it would be nice on the road. but with the 13t and 18" rear tires that why i can keep the wheels spinnin up the hill

what do you figure your top speed it? according to my friends digital speedo on his brute force (wich is roughly accurate i think) i was clicking it into 6th at 52 mph. i would like more low end pull but a ton of top end is pretty fun. i think im gonna drop my tire size to 20" and see if thats what im lookin for.

Well what i want to do is get 20" Tires and a 14t front sprocetI:I

relly, my top speed it about 100kph. just under 60mph

yeah dude, my engine was still ring dinging (that sound when you are still below your power band) at 57mph but i backed off. top speed is really fast, havent had it all the way yet. thats all assuming my buddies speedometer is roughly close. it is a brand new quad but i guess you never know.

This is how I look at the 14t front sprocket. If you currently, do not or cannot use all of fifth or sixth then it is a waste. When I am at the dunes my blaster will only pull hard in 3rd and sometimes into the middle of 4th with stock gearing a strong tailwind going slightly downhill. So to get a more useable gearing situation I swapped to a 44t rear (12t front would be about the same) which is a 10% reduction in gearing. This made 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and now 5th easier to access. On dirt roads I loose a little top speed but I get there much faster. I find this a much more useable set-up as my gearing seems to be wider spaced or 'longer' geared. I may not use first as much anymore as it is now lower geared but it is there for when I need the torque like in a very slow uphill climb in soft terrain like the dunes or mountains. I find that I am shifting less and that the wider gearing make my powerband feel wider and stronger than stock. I am currently thinking about trying a 12t front with my 44t rear to see how that feels as I still am not using sixth gear in the dunes (w/ authority). I do not reccomend gearing so that there is not anything left in sixth when you are at redline. I believe in having some extra for when conditions will allow you to get that last little bit of speed (strong tailwind or downhill run), but I like the idea of being able to get my gearing to match my engines power so that it is strong all the way through 5th and into the bottom/mid of sixth.

i seem to ba having the same problem. i dont know what to do. is it worth swapping out my stock front sprocket for a 14t with my 20"" back wheels??
