YZ 400 in a blaster

UPDATE- got the new clutch in and it grabs hard. The banshee plate doesnt fit in without modification so I didnt get to use it yet. Also the thrust bearing pushrod kit I bought will have to be shorted so I can use it with the banshee plate later. I might have to adjust the clutch later on cause she wont go into neutral with the moto running. I took her around the block, it bogged down and stalled and it wont run again. I will be fixing to take the carb apart clean it out, clean the tank petcock vavle, and replace the fuel line and filter, and replace the spark plug. hopefully that will do it. Im still working on painting the plastics. Thats about it other than when she ran she hauled ass like no other lol.

This is what you need to do for the Banshee pressure plate to work.
Get your clutch together, tighten all the springs with the Banshee plate installed.
Get your clutch adjuster adjusted correct on the plate and loctited.
Let it sit a few hours to harden the loctite.
Take an angle grinder with a flap wheel- or some kind of grinder and grind down the adjuster nut, not too far down to get a wrench on though.
Take a dremel tool with a cut off wheel and put a notch on the rod for a flat head screwdriver like it used to have before the grinding.
Blow out any grinding debris with an air compressor.
Done.
I'm guessing to use the Vito's thrust washer kit it will take the same mods also.
The problem is the Shee plate sits out farther then the stocker by a few millimeters and will make the clutch adjuster hit the inside of the clutch cover when you pull the clutch in.
Once this is done there are alot of benefits.
One is you can use that Vitos thrust washer kit AKA The RZ350 pancake bearing.
You will get rid of the ball and never have to worry about welding the ball on the rod + gain easier clutch adjustment with a never ending supply of presure plates.

UPDATE- Cleaned out the petcock valve, replaced the fuel filter, replaced the hose line, cleaned out the carb, replaced the main jet from a 370 to 380, and replaced the spark plug. And wooohooo she runs again. My guess is it was the plug.

Paulie, the shee plate doesnt even fit on all the way, seems like holes need to be rounded out some more. I lined that plate up with mine and the hole pattern on the shee plate is a hair bigger. IDK? And if i have to remove the ball out of the clutch then the thrust bearing wont work it will be to short, but if it stays in it will work then. If I'm not mistaken the tech at vitos said the ball stays in.

you can probably still make it work with some clever filing on the holes. glad to hear that its up and running again!!!!

thats what I was thinking of doing or maybe drilling the holes out a hair bigger. If neither works 15 bucks is down the hole on a plate. I think i will get it working.

I took the blasty out to a local motocross track and broke my twist throttle lol so I had to put the thumb throttle back on :(

How do you break a twist throttle?

haha

haha lol, i have been expecting all the little things to go wrong with it. Oh yeah the front breaks went out to well the passenger side break cable stapped down near the drum lol. I guess its soon time for some hydros.

On another note airing her out wasnt as bad as I thought it would be. She leveled out pretty well. Did really well on the trails also, I do need to get some new tires cause them little 18's arent doin the new motor any justice and a bigger front sprocket is in order as well.

well got the YFZ 450 shock in the mail. Thanks rideyamaha09. Cut the bottom mounts down on the shock like djack and welded the washer and nut to the bike for the top mount. Raised the rear end up nicely, just how I wanted it all along. I couldnt be happier.I:I

Does anyone think that the angle of the chain here is goin to be bad?

Lookin good. Major improvment. Could you measure the slot between the ears on the bottom mount of the shock. Lookin for a little yfz info. Thanks
Otis

how is it when you sit on the bike? thats whats important

sits just about in a straight line. little little angle on it.

thanks bro, yeah its a day and night difference between the yfz shock and the stocker. Im glad i went with this one sits just how i wanted it to. What measurement are you looking for bud??
