Just backed the raptor out of the garage. Proceeded to start out in 2cnd, however, she stalled. So I go back 2 neutral, and push the starter, but it wont start. Surely I'm thinking it cant be flooded. As I listen closer, it turn over strong, and right when it is suppose to start, I hear a "CLANK" sound. The sound is coming just above the gear peg, (the cover to the motor). Turns, turns, turns, then...Clank instead of it catching and starting. ANY SUGGESTIONS OR DOES THIS SOUND COMMON?:-/

It's coming from inside the flywheel cover...

im no 4 stroke expert but im pretty sure when the starter is turning over the motor, theres a gear that stops the starter from turning the motor over, and lets it turn over itself, but can still go while you hitting the button... somethin along that

So maybe be looking to replace some gears? Or a single one?

IDK I had a warrior for a little while that did that it sounded like one of those big rigs trying to start over but it did. Does it start on the choke, is there gas in the tank, is the shut off valve on. you gotta check these things worst case senario you might have to buy a set of gears that will engage but warriors had this problem that and running rich even in low idle good luck with this

i had the same problem, turned out to be starter pinion drive gear. $85 part, 2 hrs. repair time, get a manual, theres different size starter shims available
