i take off down the road ripping say i stop and talk to someone leave it runing jump on it and its loaded like a mofo but the plug is just a touch darker than a cardboard brown... should i adjust the needle or isnt that only for like 1/4 throttle?

sounds likely you might have to back the gas off a bit mine about the same just ajust the needle in the carb easy to. you will see a clip on the needle just move it down 1 then try it should be better it should be in the middle but if moded ya more fuel

the needle is just for fine tuning once you have the right pilot and main jet in it.

it sounds like it's running a little rich.

idk i guess the next time im around the local shop ill pick up a 260 and 250 main but i dont think im gonna mess with it for now since i might be geting a new pipe and my luck it will need to run fatter but thanks guess its back to the drawing boards!

nope. the main jet and the needle have ZERO bearing on the idle. they're not even open when you're at idle.
if your airscrew is set too rich then maybe you're getting some unburned charge building up in the expansion chamber. try turning your airscrew out like a 1/4 turn....
